12 Metrics Challenge: Prizes!
Hello all,
Dannihilator and I were talking over an idea he had, and this is the result.
We all ride our bikes on any determined distances. It is also in our nature to challenge ourselves. So this challenge is based around distance. This challenge is not easy, but isn’t too terribly hard to accomplish.
The Challenge: Over a 1 year period, on a fixed gear/single speed complete 12 metric centuries. A metric century is 63 miles. How you approach it is entirely up to you it just has to be done before the 365th day.
How to post it: Post your metric, with verification. An organized event finish will count towards the challenge. A route and timestamped photo of your trip meter will also work as verification.
The first five people to finish the challenge will be awarded with a Ti membership.
Good luck, and enjoy the challenge. Post your results in this thread, and may the hardest riders win!

I'll make sure to ride the Prez next weekend... not sure how long I'll ride that day, but it should count for at least 20 miles.

Starting today, and each Metric of 63 miles must be done in one day.

A PBP medal? (Depends on when/where you do them all in a row.)
This challenge actually has a name: Per the Randonneurs USA, this is the P-12 Challenge.
A "Permanent" is any randonneuring route approved for riding outside of a sanctioned brevet. For RUSA credit you must be a member of RUSA, a member of your local randonneuring club, pre-register with your club's Permanents Coordinator, and get your Route Card signed during the course of the ride. Then you send it back to your club coordinator who gets the completion registered. At the end of 12 months you can apply for the P-12, and if the ride selections from your list are approved you can get a spiffy P-12 bling from RUSA.

Not letting jdgesus have all the fun.
Anyhow I'm going to make this more of a challenge for me since I do long distance rides weekly on my roadie and taking in account the fact that I'm in between road bikes at the moment; I'm going to only make fixed metric centuries count.
1/12
Went over a bit; I hope that's okay.
Yes that's electrical tape and my old 3gs; it's plugged in to a duracell usb battery charger as I'm pretty sure no iphone, even today, could last 5+ hours with gps running the entire time.
@jdgesus
Is that a edge 800?
