I did what was billed as a 3/4 century today. Actual length 72 miles and it took me just under 5 hours actual elapsed time including stops. The ride started off at a nice cool 64 deg. F and never got much higher than the low 80s. After all of the excess heat this summer, a mild chill in the air at the start was most welcome. This is the longest ride of my 50+ cycling career and right now my legs feel pretty shredded. I will probably go out this evening for a quick spin around the neighborhood at a high cadence just to make sure that the kinks are all worked out. Still a lot of fun.

27 miles on flat bike trails in the city. My wife came along! She's been riding some since she started riding a bit when we were in Australia, but 27 miles is her longest ride to date. At the moment, a gentle ride of this length is just grand, as I'm on the long road to recovery as I learn to deal with arthritis in my hips. (Long-time readers know I've been battling injury for much of the year, but earlier posts were not the correct diagnosis). Anyway, we stopped at a trailside cafe about midway through and otherwise enjoyed the gorgeous late summer morning.
I'm not sure how much more ambitious my wife is willing to get. She doesn't have trouble with this kind of distance and she's neither slow or fast, but she won't ride on roads. Fortunately, there are many trails in the twin cities, so we do have more options.

Rode 69 miles from Camarillo to Zuma Beach and back--PCH is especially beautiful this time of the year.
Talked to a few riders at the Starbucks on Trancas Canyon Road and PCH. Made a quick stop at Neptune's Net where a guy in Harlye was asking a lot of questions about t he Colnago C59. His gf was cute...wish it had been her asking the questions.
I already have 704 miles for the month of August. A 1000+ miles August looks doable.

Yesterday did the Tour de Menlo metric century. the route makers found every single hill and made us go up all of them. For my recovery ride today I rode the tour of Napa Valley Metric Century. Average pace today was 13.4 mile per hour - a hill got in my way. Total elevation climb for the two days was 8,000 feet. Since I am looking to upgrade my bike (a schwinn fastback) I did lots of research on all the riders passing me. I've determined that red bikes and white jerseys are the fastest combination. By the way, the Eagle Cycling club has the best rest stops ever - homemade cookies! I think i gained weight on this ride.

I did a solo metric century (100 km, or 63 miles) today. I am very pleased with how my cycling fitness has progressed. In May, I rode in an organized metric century and was wiped out by the end. Today, I was only mildly tired. I could have ridden quite a bit further.
I have signed up for a true century ride in September, so I am increasing the length of my long Sunday ride every week. If today's ride is any indication, I think I should be prepared for a century.

Nice report! FWIW, everybody knows that red bikes are the fastest. Which isn't to say that you haven't discovered something new, but rather to reinforce your observation. (Blue bikes are the most comfortable.)
I have no great pics today, no grand and glorious vistas, no endless cornfields and picturesque river crossings. Just a trivial ride report, 46.8 miles on the tandem with my sweetie. We went west from Bedford into Carlisle, then for some new roads for us further west into Westford and north into northern Chelmsford. Came into Chelmsford Center from the west. You know how Carlisle has a few hills? Well, Chelmsford has some too, only much longer. Drop into low gear and grind away... Did I mention how Chelmesford has a few hills? It was a good day!
At Great Brook Farm on our return we met a couple riding a pair of beautiful Mercians. Spent some time talking old bikes with them. No pics, alas.

My stoker and I rode the Screamer 18 miles today. Went west to West Newton. And back - the route back includes a long, smoothly-paved section that is flat to rolling with a slight downward tilt. Cruising along at 25mph for a mile or so.....that was nice.

Friday I did a solo 49 mile ride at 19.5 mph average - tired legs afterwards. Took Saturday off to attend the Air and Water show in Chicago and did 20 mile recovery ride on Sunday. Weather is in the mid 70's after a month or more of 90's - perfect for cycling.

Nice morning for a Florida bike ride. Temps at 7:00 AM were in the upper 70's with a decent humidity level. Got in an extended 45 mile ride today for my 150th ride of the year.

Yesterday evening - 19 miles. Despite a week off the bike we cruised pretty good on the roads and and a hugely fun ride. Lot's of 28 - 35 mph hills and curves. Of course there's always the uphill ride to humble me. For once I gave the 20 year old's a bit of a run. WhooHooo!

I've been getting out more lately trying to reestablish some basic fitness. I've taken my mtb a couple times up one of the local FS roads to the top of Wayah Bald. It's a short climb of around 3 miles but gains a bit over 1200'. Wonderfully cool up there in the upper 50s. Nice views from the tower at the summit.

Today I rode the Edgar Felix trail ( https://www.traillink.com/trail/edgar...l-bikeway.aspx) from Allaire State Park, in Farmingdale, NJ to Manasquan,NJ, about 11 miles round trip. Great day to ride on what is now totally paved.

Today--40.4 miles, 2hrs, 12.5 min.
Really annoyed with yesterday as it was rainy all morning and the afternoon forecast didn't look good--so I didn't ride. The afternoon ended up being fine and frustrated and sad I didn't go for a ride yesterday.

Rode with the Colorado Springs Cycling Club on a "fun ride", every evening of this week coinsiding with the US Pro Cycling Challenge, which Colorado Springs has Stage 5 finish on Friday, the 24th. Ended up with 25 miles and finally getting home, (after dinner downtown) close to 10 PM. Riding in the dark is kinda sureal for sure!
LOL, I'm the one with the "reflective vest" on in the background, I usually volunteer for SWEEP duty on rides like this, why, well because I'm SLOW!

12 miles this morning before work, 68 lovely degrees. I've had the bike for a couple weeks now and have tried to do this loop every day, weather permitting. I'm looking forward to trying something longer. Pic below is from about the halfway point.

Another great morning for a bike ride. Got in 30 miles at the MUP and decided to take the last eight miles and do a slow ride back to the van. It was slow enough that at one point, a rollerblader passed me. Still, an enjoyable ride.
