I've suffered from bouts of heartburn all my adult life. I'm 41 now. I do sometimes get it while riding, though mostly in the afternoons, and often when not having eaten enough, oddly. Talk to your doc, see if you can figure out a pattern.

Acid increase when your empty stomach, I believe is because you miss breakfast and also it occur when your too full or too much water... base on my experience

Totally treatable. I took a pill for about a year. Lost a bunch of weight and it took the pressure off of my abdomen and it vanished. No more pill.

Here's just another way of looking at it...
I suffer from irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea. When I am in my car, I know I can usually get to a toilet in a pinch, but when I am on my bike, it's a lot harder and a lot scarier. So before every commute or recreational bicycle ride, my nerves trigger my stomach and, before I know it, I am bubbling below the belt and I need to force myself to leave the house, afraid that I am not going to make it to my destination.
Is there any chance your heartburn symptoms are psychosomatic?
