Hills are easier now!
Been climbing more hills lately. Have this relatively steep hill right by my house (cant seem to find grade), climbed it 3 times in 10 minutes. Feels great to see improvement.

Lies. Hills don't get easier, you just get faster.
Oh, and find a longer hill.

Yes, its a cycle alright. And yes, I will find longer hills, I know where some are, plenty lol. I just remember looking at this hill and thinking if I could ever make it up it on a bike, I would feel like I accomplished something.

I know what you mean - I quit riding when I moved to my current house because just getting out of the driveway was impossible with my old bike. And getting up the hill to get TO my street on the way home was about a mile of 6-7%.
Then I figured out that a compact crank wasn't for kids and everything got better.

Eventually you get to the point where the biggest hill you can ride to from your house is not a problem. This means all the other hills are nothing to worry about. It's a good feeling.

I don't know...I guess the years have taught me a few things about that puppy. I can climb it with no stress at all if I settle for moving at about 12-13 mph. I can give it a fairly hard push and achieve a 16 mph average up that stretch. Or, I can really give it my all and hold close to 18 mph, but accept the fact that I will get off the bike shaking and feeling like I am ready to puke. I usually go for A.

I used to despise hills of every kind and always go out of my way to find a flat path. It didn't take long to realize how monotonous flat paths are, hills spice up life and make a ride go by quicker IMO. Of course I still suck on hills, averaging at best 14mph but usually around 10-11mph for 10+% grades

From the replies it seems I'm a wuss lol. I dont have any hills as long as the ones I hear about here. I am not complaining though. :-)

If you can average 10-11 mph on 10%+ grades, you don't "suck at hills".
