Simplex dropouts and Peugeot
Can the style of simplex drop out be used to help date a Peugeot? I've only seen this style of drop out on older bikes from the 50s and 60s. If a Peugeot PX 10 had this style of drop out, does that mean its from the 50s or 60s? By the 70s, PX 10s clearly had a different style of simplex drop out.

That would usually signify 50s or very early 60s, I believe. https://www.bikeboompeugeot.com/Fram...0Evolution.htm

Here's a 1953 Simplex catalog page from velo-pages.com: https://www.velo-pages.com/main.php?...geViewsIndex=1
Peugeot probably used those dropouts during the late 50's to use with the Tour de France model derailleurs???

Thanks bertinjim and verktyg
There was a bike frame that sold recently on eBay as a Peugeot PX 10 with those drop outs. It was a repaint. Based on the PX 10 timeline, I'm not convinced it's a PX 10. The first PX 10 came out in 1960 and it looks to have a different drop out. So this could be a 1950s precursor to the PX 10? Interesting bike for sure. I was tempted but I have too many projects . . .

It seems to me that the frame pictured above has the 934-type rear dropouts, rather than the 880 shown in the first post of this thread. Look at the rearmost part of the dropout.
There were some bikes in the '50s through the '70s that had the 880 dropout on both sides, or else a variant of the 881 without a derailleur hanger. I have a couple of these: F.W. Evans almost certainly from the '50s or early '60s, and a Jeunet definitely from the '70s.
