New Wheels....now what?

I finally ordered my new wheelset from ProWheelBuilder.com and they are supposed to ship around Aug 10th. My question is, after I throw them on and start riding, what maintenance/tweaking/adjusting can I expect to do, and after how many miles? Or should I just be good to go? I’ve heard some say, “you’re fine, as long as they’re tensioned properly, there should be nothing to do”. And I’ve heard “you will need to check the spoke tensions after about 200 miles”.

So what do you think? What can I do myself? What should I have a competent bike mechanic at my LBS look at?

FWIW, 100% Road riding, no gravel, the wheel build is DT Swiss RR521 Rims, DT Swiss 350 Hubs, Sapim Strong spokes, Sapim nipples ( I’m a heavy rider, so after consulting PWB, I opted for the Strong spoke to make the wheels as bomb proof as possible )

Thanks in advance!

A PROPERLY built wheel shouldn't need any after maintenance re: tension/dishing etc.

What he said.

But in the "Trust, but verify" mindset, you might give the spokes a quick squeeze all around the wheel when you receive it, and after a few hundred miles. The first will make sure the spokes are evenly tensioned, and the second to make sure they don't start loosening.

The only thing I would be concerned about is the proper mounting of new tubes & tires. The most important step being installation of quality rim tape. Once the new tires are mounted and pressurized and wheels are bolted into the frame you shouldn't have a thing to worry about for at least 1000 miles.

I always inspect a new hub for proper grease. Many have a minimal amount.

Thank you all for the responses! Makes me feel better that after spending a bunch of money, i "shouldn't" need to do anything!
