Beautiful PX. Looks like a '72 ? I just acquired one of this vintage from the original owner and I'm about 75% of the way through a nuts and bolts resto. Will post pics when done.

Thanks! Do post some pictures when you get them.

I’m about to swap in a Stronglight 99 crank with a 51/34 setup.

Very nice! I went the route of sourcing a NOS 40T small chainring for my original crank which I hope will help a bit with our little colorado hills.

Are you using a Stronglight 93 crank?

You can get a 37-tooth ring if the 40-tooth one doesn't help enough.

Yeah, that's what I did with my '82 PXN 10; I'm running an 86 bcd stronglight crank with 50/34 rings.

I'll vouch for the quality of the Red Clover 37-tooth. I have one and the quality is great!

Here is what I think is a later PX 10. By looking at the catalogues and searching all the forums... I am pretty convinced that this is a 1984 PX10L.
But... the seat stay doesn't have that 1984 set screw design, and the FD is a braze on rather than a clamp. All the other specs seem right in like with the description of the '84 PX10L. Does the serial number starting with "83" mean it's a 1983 model? It didn't look like the '83s in the catalogues.
Maybe Peugeot did a mid-year change on the unpopular set screw seat post?

Ed

I just realized that the Peugeot I got from a seller in England for a decent price is a PX-10. Also known as an Isoard for the British market. Also known as a Competition? Also in pre-restoration, pre-stripping, pre-derustifying, pre-repainting and outfitting stage.

For those of you who will mentally strangle me, I have a few crazy ideas for the pain....just haven't quite figured it out. This will be a summer project after the Trek, Faggin, AD SLE, MBK...

There are certainly a few issues I had braced myself for, but it was a reasonable cost for a 1987 Peugeot Competition, which brought me back my first bike (a UO8 or something...whatever was cheap).

Then all I need is a Bianchi of sorts to close the circle. Hmmm...

...and a shed to house the too large collection of countries’ representatives. Still need a few...

Well we both know "reasonable cost" is relative and can trip us up more often than not so don't pass anything up that you don't have to, I would always rather regret buying something than not.

The Bianchi will have to stay until I find another to take its` place so keep your eye out for one like it in my size and like I said, buy, buy, buy!

Italians were not that tall in the 1960s... haha

I agree about the not passing it up if it doesn't hurt you...too badly...

Yep, "too badly", another moving target. I've got at least 2 or 3 right now that I probably shouldn't have bought.

You could be right about the Italians.

My first Peugeot

This is my first Peugeot, looks to be in great shape, unfortunately it's still 90 miles away, haven't seen it in person yet. It looks to be original except for the suntour cyclone front derailleur. It is a UX10 with 27 x 1¼ wheels, not sure of the year.

'72 PX-10 I got last fall & spent the winter rehabilitating. There were plenty of Frenchy 'mysteries' and oddities to work through along the way, but the wealth of knowledge here in the C&V forum was invaluable! Retrofriction shifters, correct (or at least better fitting) hoods and some SPD pedals are the last couple things on the list (the Berthets are cool as all get-out & I'll keep 'em on hand, but practicality call for clipless for me most of the time). Took a 'classic racy French randonneur' approach, and the more I ride it the more I love it.
