Early 1990s Bianchi Limited - 58cm (UPDATE - Probably 63cm)

Pewter Grey in almost perfect condition with the original full Shimano 600 group: shifters, brakes, crank and derailleur. It has Campagnolo wheels with Shimano 105 hubs.

This is a spotless and beautiful vintage bike that rides like new.

The truth is I saw this bike at a thrift store, bought it, cleaned and tuned it, and now would like to "flip" it. Please no attacks about buying a bike just to flip it. I don't do that very often. But, I knew this was a nice bike with very good components and liked the idea of buying something unappreciated, fixing it a bit, and making a fair profit. I'm not an expert, but I'd like to ask a fair price.

I can't help on value (lots of market variation) but that is one hot bike. i love the color. It is also one of my favorite shimano setups, tricolor with down tubes and single pivot brakes. It is durable and functional. To top it off, this group looks clean!

If I were selling that bicycle, even in the incredibly weak market in Thunder Bay, I would want between $250 and $300. In a stronger market, $300 to $400. Location does have a great deal to do with Vintage Bicycle Value.

Thanks for the input so far! The last three posters are probably right - the top tube is 58cm, but the seat tube is 63cm. So, I should be listing as a 63, then!

Good luck selling such a big frame bike. Could take a while. Raise the saddle, bike looks great.

Much as I hate to recommend Ebay...why not auction it, and let the market determine it's value? It may surprise you. You see absurd things sometimes- two people will get into a bidding war.....in some cases, something worth a few hundred bucks can end up going for $1000. (And nothing wrong with flipping bikes, no matter how often you may do it! You paid for it- it's yours to do with as you please- and the person who buys it will probably be glad you did- because if they're buying yours, and paying good money for it, they were obviously unable to find a better deal on one- or they wanted one that someone else has fixed-up. More power to ya! Hope ya make a killing on it!)

This is either an '88 (Tange tubing) or an '89 (Ishawata) otherwise they are almost identical. It certainly looks like a 63cm frame too. The limited name was dropped, atleast in the US after '89 and became the Virata.

It looks in great shape but I would only offer $200-250 since all I would want is the components.

The components aren't high end, which tells us that this bike was probably an entry level Bianchi. It's in beautiful condition. It's say, if you were in a hot market, it could go for ~600-700 to the right buyer if the frame is of good tubing. You could also sit on it for 10 years, and then you'd be sure to get that much. But since it's a bike from the 1990s... I'd say 450 is reasonable and doable.

Uh... Ultegra/600 Tricolor? Other than Dura Ace that's as high end as you can get in the Shimano line.

Well sante fell between the two for several years but yes, this is top shelf stuff. I think it's one of the best component groups they made.

Be patient. There aren't many bikes out there that are this size but the flip side is that there aren't many riders that size either.

I own this very same bike, but smaller. My bike has a Celeste colored seat as well. They may have changed the seat on your bike. My bike is still in the same condition as your bike to this day. I paid $500 dollars back in 1996. I think it was worth more than a $1000 back then.

I am with Bianchi girl. I have seen similar Bianchis here sit on CL for months at $225 or so. And this one is BIG. Ebay might be worth a shot.

This post is 6 years old and the OP hasn't posted since then so a reply isn't very likely. The only sold for between $875 and 900 so one being worth 1K ten years later is doubtful

I replied only because I owned the exact same bike. I didn't see anyone else reply who owned one.

Maybe it was the way I responded, but I didn't mean the bike was worth $1000 when I bought it. I meant that it was worth around $1000 when it was new. I bought it in 1996 for $500. I believe the bike was a 1990....that would be 6 years later. I was estimating around $1000 when new. I appreciate the info though.
