Oh, I love the idea of removing the "gear shift tech", but leaving the spoke protector on a single speed (just in case).

Oh, we need some picture of Bob's work

https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-v...pair-ever.html

Of course, it could be a legit small business man working out of a home shop. But it still needs examples.

We have a local guy that has been doing home repairs, I think. Finally his photos seem to be getting a little better. How can he have 3 ads?

I like the random nature of this story and the fact that there is no price listed. Predictably, the bike hasn't sold and so the story has been reposted several times. Still no price.

right handle brake wire broke (N Van Dorn st Alexandria, VA)

Way before damage bike gear would randomly get stuck for a split second so I never pedal standing up, sitting down I never noticed. When breaking with left the front wheel screeches sometimes and can be loud.

I can still use the bike almost like non defective bike, I just don't pedal standing up and I don't speed too much. Other than that I have been using bike for a very long time in this condition without protective gear.

I still use bike in safe roads, I'm selling to make some spare change for a new one.

Could be a BikeForums user posting a description of the problem in Mechanics subforum.

For a million bucks you'd think they would post a picture.

Copper? Not brass or bronze?

For that price, one would have thought that it would have come from the Copper Age, predating the Bronze Age.

It looks like a few builders were working in copper plated steel. It still would make for a beautiful bicycle, but not a Million dollars worth. Maybe a Million Copper Pennies?

This really is a classic CL ad that needs to be preserved for posterity. Because everyone knows, only the very best "copper racing frqmes" are made in France. Plus, "everything is the way it came", whatever that means.

I'd offer $800,000 and see where it goes from there.

Schwinn circuit bike without tires - $150 (Springfield)

Schwinn circuit bike without tires because some AxxHxxx stole them. Bike is only 2 weeks old. Bought for 289. Price is firm ill even throw in the lock. I would recommend getting a cable so AxxHxxxs cant take your tires like they did me.

That doesn't bode well for the bike when there is also a thread about Trek forks that popped up to the top recently.

Ha! Right, I read that post previously and it didn't connect, but you're right. Maybe he means "expect Serious INJURIES ONLY !" Oh well, I love my '84 660 and so far the forks haven't come apart. So far...

Ouch!!!

No price specified. Hopefully the seller is giving them away for free, or even allowing one to do picking and pulling for free. The turquoise bike might donate some wheels.

I can't say if the frames and major components would have survived the fire, but cleaning them looks like a major hassle.

There may be some salvageable parts, mostly anything solid metal like cranks, but finding them might not be worth the effort! Also, fire is way hotter than people think it is, especially if it was in a garage or other confined space. Who knows what shape they are really in.

Can you imagine the smell?
