December is for funny tasting drinks at Starbucks and wearing more layers of bike clothing that should ever be allowed.

...Lucky Yesterday was still short sleeve weather after a cold morning start. My first outdoor ride in a week and was good to be out.

Nope, and it's "rebuild the PC" season too... I'd rather take my time and get exactly what I want I guess.

Gen 4? Whachoo talking about willis?

Got a Ryzen 9 3900X as the CPU, a fancy-pants ASROCK Mobo, 32 GB of ram and apparently... SSDs are no longer SATA, so I got an 1 TB M2 SSD for the OS and programs and a 6 TB spinny drive for pics and data. I'll recycle the GPU and random other parts. Should arrive tomorrow night and I'll probably get into it Sunday. Can't wait! Lightroom has been dog slow ever since I got a 20 mpix camera(s)

Right, my GPU is Gen 3 though, not sure I'll see any benefit but it SHOULD help the SSD. I didn't even think about going RAID on the SSD, is that something you can do after the fact?

I got out today at 50 degrees, no wind, but moisture in the air (I think it is going to rain later).. Seven miles, but I did it. I am a MAMIL (Middle Aged Man In Lycra).

Now that this fat bastard has gone out I expect the optometrists will have a surge of new patients as one can't un-see a fat man in spandex.

Seriously stepped up my activity. Had a partial toe amputation last month, waited a bit over 2 weeks, then decided to hammer in Zwift. I chose 135 miles as a goal for the month. Ambitious, for me. And yesterday, or in 12 days I hammered out 150 miles. All 5 stages of Tour of London, and couple other rides and one race around the volcano with my local club (courtesy of Zwiftpower and Discord). Was awarded a bump in FTP for my efforts, and feeling dumb enough to push for over 200 miles total now... Not bad for a guy in an Air Cast Boot for a few rides, and now in an AFO ankle brace...

I’m here in the Boise area for Christmas with the kids, no bike with me and it’s cold, snowed a bit this morning. We drove up from SoCal last Sat/Sun, had to stop and wait for elk crossing 93 north of Ely, NV, that was pretty cool to see. Would suck to collide with one though. Glad we overnighted in Ely so we were not driving that stretch in the dark.

Won’t be home til late on the 30th, last ride was on 12/17, so this will be my longest break off the bike in at least a couple years.

If you had a trainer, you could zwift up there.
Enjoy the time off, it's good to take a break every now and then. Just not as often as I do.

What did you guys get for Christmas (bike related!)
I got two pair of socks that I bought for my wife - she intercepted them when they arrived and thought she ordered them for me, so I fished them out of my stocking when she wasn't looking and put them in hers. Total confusion. Got some new bibs from Red+White for me and a jersey that doesn't fit. I have to decide if it's aspirational or never going to happen. LOL

****!

My wife 'got me' a replacement rim because of my oopsie. I got her a pair of Maxxis Ardent 2.4 TR tires because one of her MTB tires is getting a bit long in the tooth.
