One starts a thread about it on Bike Forums. That is the most reliable way of making that determination, and much more likely to yield usable results than, you know, actually trying it out. Lube threads are very closely related to 'what bike should I buy' threads in that respect.

I use ceramic wax on a bright finish chain. Wet lubes attract the dust here, and the bright finish makes it pretty obvious when it needs to be cleaned. I seem to get longer intervals with dry lube.

On the third night of the new moon, I collect godspittle (dew) from the grass, and mix it with a proprietary blend of paraffin, used 30-weight, and a touch of shaved buffalo chips as a binding agent. After letting the mixture sit for at least 9 days, I apply it during the first noon in which the moon is visible.

Works great. Lasts up to two weeks.

The former is an tried-and-true rhetorical strategy here, and the latter a well-proven graphic device.

I use Mobile 1 oil and regular auto bearing grease. IMO the mouse milk "special" bike oils and greases are a waste of money.

Completely agree. Those bicycle lubes and greases are in fact just another facet of the Great Bicycle Manufacturers/UCI Conspiracy.

There is an intimate link between the unavailability of triple chainsets, the marketing of 'special' lubricants, and the absence of recumbent bicycles in the Tour de France.

I prefer the same oil I use on guns and other fine instruments CLP...

But really for the chain I use a simple 50/50 mix of 10W-30 and Marvel Mystery Oil in an old 3&1 oil can.

Sounds really weird. I usually use something my dad buys for his bike. By the way, guys, I love all these surveys and I was wondering if it's possible to gain extra money on taking them. I was a little shocked when I found out that almost all surveys regarding different products or some kind of statistics are usually paid. The best option for a student to work is to gain money on taking online surveys, it doesn't imply much time and effort. So, when I checked this article I managed to start working and, you won't believe me, first thing I bought on my money was my bike, lol.
