Suntour Barcon value?

There is a set of Suntour Power Shift barcons for sale locally. They are complete with the coiled wire cable housings and documentation. From the pics they appear to be in complete and excellent condition , possibly even NOS. There are several other cables, a clamp on cable stop and a pair of braze on DT shifter bosses included. $50, OBO......... What would be an approximate value on these?

$50 is about right. Extra stops and bosses are a plus.

For a complete set both shifters with cables, clamps and DT bosses I would agree that $50 is about right.

True new in original package Suntour bar ends are $80 plus. But they need to be in original packaging. I’ve been selling used Suntour bar ends with the spiral housing on fee bay for $47.

These are listed as used but sure don't look it. Stopping after work tomorrow.

Picked them up tonight, he got them in a box of car parts a few years ago at an estate auction. Never installed, have a little shelf wear but they're all there plus several extra cables. Got 'em for $40, I'm happy, especially since he said he almost threw them out at one time! Nice guy but not into bikes AT ALL.

Cool shifters and $40 is about right for a local sale if all complete. I tend to get mine off complete bikes but then you have to sell the bike,

Long have I loved the Suntour Barcon Power shifter design and what the OP paid is a fair to good deal, in my opinion. Many bikes, that I have built up, sported those shifters. These days, I am both a barcon and brifter guy, but the barcons I prefer are the Suntour seven speed Accushift bar ends. They border on being perfect for my needs...

I don't want to hijack the OP's thread but why do you like these so much? Just curious as I have found suntour's indexing to be hit or miss.

I used the suntour bar cons on a Fuji Finest I recently rebuilt and I was impressed. They are great and are especially good on a long distance machine with a triple.

Probably could have got them for less but he agreed to hold them until I could get there plus they had the coiled cable housings so I wasn't going to low ball him. I've never found a used set with those intact without buying the whole bike.

Simply put, my order of shifter preference is - Brifters, Indexed anything and then friction. There is nothing wrong with the friction Power Shifter but I really like the "user friendly" positive shifts I get with the Accushift bar end shiftes. I like them so much, on my Jamaica Bianchi (lots of kilometers on this old work horse)...

...that I installed a set on my Canadian cottage Rocky Mountain (just got to know the bike last summer in Canada)...

I actually like the 6 and 7 speed accushift bar ends and thumbies also. I have gotten them to work nicely with both Suntour and Shimano stuff on vintage bikes.

I must ask: what is the chicken wire cage in the background (other than a chicken wire cage full of plastic bottles)?

I have Campy bar ends on on my Mondia only because the bike came that way. I have been using down tube shifters for too long and find myself dropping my hand to shift when I ride the Mondia. I have set of the Suntour power shifter type and am considering selling them so this info is helpful

The chicken wire fish is a bottle disposal station, many of which have sprung up in Jamaica this past year. It is, in my opinion, an absolutely great idea. The fish fill up in a month, or so, and faster during high tourist season. The result? Fantastic!!!

In years gone by, plastic bottles littered the streets as trash, to be forgotten and/or ignored. This year, few plastic bottles clutter the place I love to go - Jamaica. And, for what it is worth, I can see this simple idea going world wide. At least, I hope so...

I think this is great collecting trash in an interesting way and effectively making in into modern art for almost no cost great idea.
