Looking for 700c coaster brake wheel for Bianchi Pista
Hi everyone
I hope this is the correct place i'm posting. I'm looking for a good quality 700c coaster brake wheel for my Bianchi Pista track bike. I'm tired of the fixed gear, so looking to change it out. I know nothing about good wheels, so hoping to get some pin points to a good wheel for everyday use. I'm a commuter and just need to get from A to B. Not looking for something super expensive, but should obviously match the quality of the bike

Wow, what a helpful response. I’m not a bike mechanic nor exports on wheels and was looking for help in selecting one. Am I really wrong to assume that this forum is to help with these kind of things?

700c with a coaster brake is an odd duck. You could ask your local bike shop to build one for you.

Nah, you were just rude. Guy asked a reasonable question. Never said he doesn't want to spend money, just said he doesn't need super expensive equipment for his commute. And he wanted to hear some recommendations for a solid wheel from people that ride this setup since probably, he was unsure about what google was suggesting.

Anyway, are you sold on coaster brake because of the look? I'm guessing you have no rear brake on your bike? Pictures I've seen of the Pista show it with caliper brakes.... so an option would be a freewheel and calipers since it must have a brake bridge.

I love my Coaster brake big BMX
I built the wheels from some scrap 700c rims and some leftover spokes with a Shimano CB-E100 SS coaster brake hub and a left over front Hub from some junker I had.

With any new wheel you purchase, spokes will loosen after the first few hundred miles of use. This will happen to a greater extent on some and lesser on others depending on how it was built and by who or what.
So if your wheel is made of decent brand components. And after a few hundred miles you take it to a bike shop and get them to tighten and true it, then it'll last you quite a while no matter what you get.
I've found decent inexpensive wheels with a combination of mavic and shimano components. There are many others out there too. Google, as suggested by the first response to your post. You won't find any terrible ones. At least not if you look for name brand components.

Perry Hub, 700c wheel.
Back in the early 80s some distributor was building those wheels with a narrow Mavic clincher rim. I found one on a junker bike last winter. Had forgotten about that little fad until I saw the wheel. Keep in mind that if you are heavy, and go down any long hills hot grease can be thrown. Most adult coaster brake bikes have a front caliper brake too. Stool have the SA coaster brake hub (1971) from a wheel I made for a JC Higgins 3 SPD. Rode down a steep hill to downtown Ithaca, NY from Cornell. At the bottom, a splat of hot grease was thrown out the hub onto the back of my calf. Nice burn.

I would add a freewheel if you can onto the current hub and use a proper front and rear brake. That will work better than a coaster brake hub.
If you are absolutely desperate for coaster brakes and won't accept better braking and potentially a higher quality hub and cog/freewheel then you want to see if you can find something that is 120mm so it will fit on a Pista frame.
