Peugeot 753
After a lot of trials and tribulations I finally have my sticky mitts on a much searched for addition to the the fleet .
HAs a whole lot of interesting (hopefully not just to me ) bits about it as well as racing pedigree .
Took some quick night shots . Will take some more shots in the daylight tomorrow after I calm down . !

REALLY like that axle stop design! Serviceability to nth degree! I bet you could retrofit to existing DO with stripped or otherwise damaged threads.

I like the minimalist lugs. kinda disappointed that the stays are just domed. the brake cable hanger
is nicely done but now you're stuck with centerpulls, I guess you'll be looking for some Mafac 2000s
as they were their best. why is the shifter boss painted gold with a touch of blue behind?

Adding on to what repechage notes about the domed stays, I wonder if the main tubes are 753, but not the stays? I know that some 753 frames got chrome treatment, but it was generally discouraged. Might explain the chrome socks on this Peugeot. Just speculating. Regardless, very sweet frame/project. Looking forward to more pics.

Looks like a PY10 from Peugeot's special custom build shop that built bikes for their team pros!
Fantastic find!
The domed stay ends are just what was typical on Peugeots. Gitanes had better looking chisel point stay ends, but who cares with a super Peugeot bike like this one!

The bike came complete minus wheels .
So have the centrepulls it was designed for.
The boss gold is greasy gunk with a little bare metal showing .

Yes it is odd .
Hiya By "touched" do you mean the absence of the S in simplex ?
I looked at it sideways myself when I first looked at it .
Looks to be done in the factory . all tidy and chromed .
I wonder why it was done ?
I have noticed that the thickness of the dropouts appear to be heavier that standard simplex on other pugs i have .
Will have a measure up when I get a chance .

Definately a frame from the pro shop in my opinion .
A whole lot of features point to that .
A couple of real obvious ones which i will share later .
Component list mainly french as you would expect .
MAFAC GT brakes
Simplex/spidel derailleurs
Spidel crank set 175mm and spidel pedals
Stronglight competition alloy headset
Bottom bracket Stronglight cartridge ?
spidel alloy seat post attached to a Ideal 2002 which is marked "titane"
Components all in tidy used usable condition .
Condition of frame is well used .
Lots of scratches and scrapes here and there plus a couple of small dings in the top tube .
It is a very solid build without a lot of frills .
Just a good honest racing machine .
Plan is to give it a good clean and treat the frame etc for corrosion .
Then put it back together and ride it !
Should be fun !

Not sure how I would be able to tell ?
It is not a standard factory built frame so anything is possible ?

never saw those Mafac GTs b4. like the bolts,don't like the QRs

why would someone not bother to center the bars in the stem? would have expected Phillipe bars and stem

Cinelli pretty standard fare for the Peugeot racing teams back then .
Bike is an interesting mix of bits . Simplex rear , spidel front mechanism .
I like the seat post . Very light . I dont recall ever seeing a spidel branded seat post previously on a bike of this era ( sure someone will show me other wise now
)
