This bike was kept inside for years and the paint is in great condition. Size 25.5". Brakes work, shifts well. Drivetrain: Suntour Blaze, Accushift. Handlebars could use a rewrapping after rear brake cable was fixed. The tubing is True Temper RC2. RC2 is high quality seamed Cro-moly. In fact, True Temper was one of the tubing manufacturers that really got it right on producing seamed tube sets on par with drawn tube sets. Also, the '92 400 is Cr-Mo through out, including the fork and stays. See https://www.vintage-trek.com/refurbish.htm for the butting info. Also, see https://www.bikeman.com/attic/catalog...992catalog.pdf. Very good vintage bike. Asking $125, cash only, will not ship, buyer must come to Newburyport to check it out. hello.
i am selling my men's road bike. it is quite stylish. the frame is a specialized sirrus frame from the 1980s with pink decals. the gears and shifters are shimano.
there is a small dent on the right side of the top bar. it is sealed with epoxy and there is no rust. the front tire is quite bald and should probably be replaced. the bicycle is in a good, lightly used condition otherwise. the frame is suitable for people from about 5'7" to 5'11". i am 6'0" and the length of the frame is a tiny bit too short for me.
i am asking for $300. i have been told that the frame alone is worth $500 so this is a considerable deal. i also just replaced the back tire. i have a lock (in the picture) that can be included if you need one. this bike is good for short city rides and also longer more serious rides.
please email me if you're interested or would like to test ride the bicycle. i am in the east cambridge area.
NOTE that the bicycle is available for sale now but i can't let you have it until june 9 as i am using it still to get around the city! you can acquire it then after i graduate from college.

Steel frame and fork with chromed fork crown. A chance to own a piece of history. Overall bike is in fine shape. Very few miles on it – back injury years ago that never improved – been in storage for 10-15 years.

This Dawes was bought new by my father in 1935. He used it to ride from Austin up to his family's Round Lake cabin until WW II. It is all original except for cables, tires, and handlebar wrapping, and no finishes have been refurbished or rust removed. The Reynolds 531 decal is still somewhat visible on the blue, green and chrome frame with yellow Dawes lettering. The original Brooks saddle disintegrated in the 70's the last time I rode it. The derailleur functions by the rotation of a pulley and the cable and connections at both ends are missing. Three gears on the cassette. The drum brakes on 26" wheels require a special spanner to disassemble. 3" thumb screw front quick release nuts. 41.75" or 106 cm long wheelbase for smooth rides and non-twitchy steering on the rough roads of the 1930's. 31" or 79 cm top tube stand over. Braze-ons for front and rear fenders, a left fork generator, and pump. Brampton headset and great lugs. Not too much resemblance to the more recent Chinese Dawes mark, to say the least. If you like leather and tweed bags and knickers, but want to stand out from that crowd with an aura of unmistakable authenticity, this bike will do it for you after a caring restoration. I'm only selling to someone who wants to do that to it.
