Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cursed Nashbar and Performance catalogs!

I just got another Performance one this week.
Since buying stuff from both company, I seem to be getting one almost every week!
If you don't buy anything from their site, they never send you one. I tried like 5 times to request a free catalog. Then, I purchase things from their sites and they can't stop sending me the same ads over and over again.

I may never buy from either one again now that I found out that Competitive Cyclist has a 10% military discount... They rule.

ive never bought from them, yet i get them. I must be cool like that....or just lucky :/

On a serious note, I just read it to help me realize i dont have to spend $130 on this computer, because i can get 3/4 of features in this $34 model. Helps to keep me from splurging on stuff i don't need, as a beginner cyclist.

Yeah, I discovered that one too. My fiancee and I both ride SRS-3's because of it. 30% off on a custom bike and any parts they sell--can't beat it.

Or just make the catalogs softer. Gotta think about the environment, after all.

If you need a big discount, just ride in some of the big charity rides in your area. Many local shops give discounts to participants.

I'm doing AIDS/LifeCycle in June, and numerous stores in my area give 15% or 20% off everything in the store to participants, year-round.

Guys, while we're on the topic of Nashbar and PB, in your experience, how long does it take to get your order via standard shipping? I have an order at both places. TIA!

Mecheng, I usually use standard shipping on average takes a week, but I have had items take just over 2 weeks.

Welcome to the age of the internet and web sites. Catalogs are expensive to print and mail, and are inheriently outdated (due to constantly fluctuating inventory) by the time they arrive in the consumer's mailbox. So, they put the tastiest morsels in the catalogs, and put the full inventory on the web. They hope the pamphlets are enough to keep them on the customer's radar, and maybe entice them to their web site.
