In addition to posting each page separately below, I've attached the full article as a pdf file (Select View/Page Display/Two Page View to repair the down and top tubes).

The pricing is just mind blowing. I realize $265 was a lot in the late 60s but the new models in 1980, top end was near 2k or so and that was definitely expensive. Like they say, timing is everything.

Always liked those frames. I believe the 60-70's era frames were different from the 80's era frames. In 1986 a guy came in with knock-off Cinelli frame produced in Korea. Used Cinelli lugset, the tubing was unknown, but had reproduction Columbus decal on it. He asked us to prep the frame as he was headed to CABDA to gauge interest from bike shops in the Midwest. Honestly they looked identical to the real thing. Politely we declined.

$300 was about right for a high-end racing bike in the late 1960s. (I paid $150 for my lowly Nishiki Competition in March of 1971, when a Peugeot PX-10 ran about $250.) Prices took off a few years later.

"Rolls Royce of bicycles......??) For an Italian bike company that is associated with the top levels of racing, that could be taken as an insult......
"Ferrari" would have been a much better choice, IMO....... Even Bentley would be better, but not the mostly patrician image of Rolls Royce.....

LOL, totally correct.
And no one gets chauffeured on a Cinelli.

"Cinelli will disappoint you." I didn't write it. Blame the author.

The review doesn't answer the most important question: Is it laterally stiff but vertically compliant?

I was saving for a bicycle from 1967 to later 1969, it was quite depressing to see prices rise near my ability to save, a treadmill.
in 1970 I was saving again, this time for a road bike.
Enduring the wage and price controls, ( can you say imported bike part shortage?) the extra 10% duty... Gave me an acute education in Marco economics before I was out of grade school.

and soon thereafter there was a slow but progressive acceptance of braze ons- bottom bracket shell shift cable guides first, then bottle bosses, then shift bosses and top tube cable guides.

i guess let the other brands to the fatigue testing?

i also would assume the big frame in the review was SP tubing.
