Oh my!!!

Those are so rare and so lovely, and yours is no exception! My friend and coworker has taken up track racing at our (thankfully) local velodrome and so that, naturally, has me looking at track frames. Finding ones in the 63cm range is...difficult, and yours looks to be a 60cm or so (to me, correct me if I'm wrong), which is cool to see because tall frames are sweet. I'd love to find one of these, though they do rightly command a premium. Enjoy!!

The black and red ST400! I have one of those in the shop! I want to build it into the touring answer to the Black Lightning Crit. Been squirreling away black bits for almost a year now... great rides the ST’s

Interesting that Cannondale chose not to use a triple chainring crankset for that model as they do on their other touring bikes.

The “lowest” grade tourers got marketed as commuting/away at college bikes. They often got a double ring, the mid tier had the triple ring, and was the sport touring bike, then the high end had the triple and the canti brakes and was the grande touring bike. All the same frame though, and putting a triple and modern long reach dual pivot calipers gets you all the stopping power and fender clearance you could want. Even the “lower end” components were quite functional if not as sexy.
I’ve got three ST’s, one is a beat up commuter that needs serious love, ones a frame I’m building up, and the third is the black and red ST, like the one pictured.
Finding replacement Canti’s that fit the narrow road bike spacing has been a challenge....

1993 M800 - My college bike that was pulled out of storage and returned to roadworthiness last last year. A raging case of plantar fasciitis made it impossible for me to continue running so I started piling miles on this old friend once again.

Fresh from storage:

Good info, thanks. I am not as familiar with Cannondale's touring bike line. My SR500 is still going strong though.

I’ve been riding that St400 a bit, and I noticed there are threaded holes to accommodate a third granny gear on the crank, so they were even set up from the factory to be upgraded.

My birthday, although 14 years after I was born, and unfortunately too big for me to make an offer on. Beautiful condition nonetheless!!👍

I checked the vintage Cannondale site, it dates to May 1991.
I bought this to use in the C&V Clunker Challenge #4 , and so far it has been really nice riding it. A more complete going-through will take place after the challenge is over, and I plan on a couple component changes.
Overall though, very satisfied with this bike!

Sweet, a purple 'dale! 👍 My ST600 is a '91, a very good year.

Hey, what if I actually posted a pic of mine, instead of just dumb comments? 🙄😁 As you can tell, that baby blue mtb would fit me just fine. 😉

Never owned a Cannondale but for some reason my N+1 pressure goes through the roof every single time I see one of the touring models.
