Shipping cost matters
Morning. Has anyone shipped from France to the USA at a good rate? Just put some details (rough) in to bikeflights and it came out with 800€...

Are you traveling to the USA?
It may be cheaper to check in the bike on the flight in a carrying case than shipping it.

By official French post twice- sellers were creative- cranks off. Wheels off, I do not know the dimension factors but $110 - 140
was a few years back- 55, 56 cm frames.
might try DHL for grins- they are like UPS.
i would go post-

We recently returned from France to USA and checked our bikes on our airline (can't remember which one). It was $80.
We stopped by several bike shops to get a free box. We had a couple of offers and ended up with two good boxes and some of the packing stuff. But, I do not think most of the LBS stores had the packing material but you can buy it at the local 'home depot' (can't remember the name). It would be very helpful if you knew the bike box dimension for your bike and the airline, if you elected to use this method. Good luck.

Sent one recently WITHOUT wheels to reduce the package size. 10kg (it was 9kg but that wasn't an option), €265. UPS via the website.

This is how I pack a bicycle for overseas shipments. Usually, the cost is about 1/4 or what FedEx or Purolator will cost me. Be forwarned, to learn how to do this kind of packing takes a bit of time to learn but money will be your friend. By the way, there is no way that I can use this method to ship a bike to Australia since Australia Post's max box size is just too small.
Have look through Packing and Shipping Bicycles. Hope it offers a bit of help...
