Team Proctor...
I picked this early Proctor up at the McGregor dump yesterday. I was surprised to see it made out of a lesser tube set and double surprised to see that it was a "Team Proctor". I have no idea what this means and hope that someone can shed some light on this bicycle. Remember, I actually do get my bikes, often times, from the dump.
Anyway, the Team Proctor...
Is the TEAM sticker original or added by someone after the bike was purchased..?
Nothing special about the tube set...
A bit of truing required to achieve road worthy status..:-)
Three or four gallons of Prolink should do the trick to this rarely used drive chain...

This looks like a lower mid-range frame from the mid-1980s. It wouldn't surprise me if this was contract manufactured in Asia. The serial number, if present, may provide a clue.

hmmmm...... the Peoria Bicycle Club used to organize a local race with the Proctor Hospital acting as a sponsor. It was known as the Proctor Bicycle Classic.
No known connection to any bike manufacturing that I know of, though.

What does that bike have for a serial number Randy? It does not look like the Brad Proctor bikes i have seen. The lettering on the decal is not similar.

Proctor was the brand of Edmonton based frame builder Brad Proctor. He would eventually partner with Rob Townsend of High Country Cycle & Sports and the brand would become Proctor-Townsend.

Mystery solved - it is a Bianchi, serial number BS582009. Closer inspection, today, revealed Bianchi forged drops, front and rear. Glad it is not a Proctor as my opinion of the builder would be negatively impacted. The workmanship on the Bianchi does not come close to other Proctors and Proctor-Townsend steeds to come my way.

The serial number format is that Bianchi's Japanese source and indicates February 1985 manufacture. The tubeset, components and fully chromed fork are consistent with a mid-1980s, Canadian market, Bianchi Bici II.
