$175 for a 1988 Bridgestone 550 Racing series? – 59cm frame - all original parts
I am considering buying a blue 1988 Bridgestone 550 Racing series – 59cm frame made in Japan - all original parts posted on the Washington DC area Facebook marketplace (sorry I cannot post links yet).
It sounds like the bike was well-cared for and would just need tires replaced. Based on some research on this forum and CL/ebay, I have seen similar bikes quoted anywhere from $130 to $400. Is $175 a fair price?
Really appreciate any input for a bike novice suffering from stay-at-home cabin fever. Thank you!

Nice bike and very fair price as it sits at $175. Lots of pluses, original owner, good condition, recently tuned-up. You might use the negatives such as needing new tubes and tires and the time it's been listed in your negotiation. If the bike is as nice as it looks, I wouldn't bother negotiating much. Times are timid, including the bike market!

It's been available or over a week, I'd shoot them an offer and see if they take it.

The pandemic is likely slowing the market down a great deal. That's a decent deal for that bike especially in a large city. The bike is clean and looks to have been taken care of. The zefal HP pump is a plus; it is very good.

Sure looks like the fork is bent. There's not any room between the tire and down tube. I wouldn't touch it.

It does look like the the front tire is very close to the down tube now that you mention it... Assuming there should be a few centimeters of space between those?

Why is the front wheel so close to the downtube? Plus, it's got a long reach stem. You need to have a long torso to ride it with that set up.

I was suspicious of the fork too but was hoping it was the angle. Anyone a catalog with a geometry chart? What is the hub to hub measurement?

I still cannot post links, but there is a URL for the catalogue in the FB posting if that is what you mean Bianchigirll. Thanks!

If I am reading this righ the wheelbase (hub to hub) is right 1005 mm real close to 41 3/8" I'd check that before committing to anything.

Well, I had confirmed a meeting time with the seller two hours ago and rode a bikeshare bike 8 miles only to have the seller cancel 30 minutes before our meeting time...
So hopefully the fork was bent! Back to square one

No worries. You'll find something as good or better soon.

LOL. That bridgestone was nice looking, for sure. Except the whack on the fork. Did appear to be very close to the downtube.
