Hi all,please help me to identify my "new" old bianchi frame. Some pictures available here. This frame has a 26,8mm seatpost and campagnolo dropouts and champagne (?) metal finish. C-C is 59cm, C-T is 59 cm,head tube is 17,7 cm. Weight : frame 2255 grams ,fork : 785 grams. I think the paint and the decals are original. The frame set contains Gipiemme seat tube,bottom bracket,head set, dual sprint cranks...

I'm only familiar with US market Bianchis so far, so I'm not much help. If it has Campy dropouts, it will be a pretty good model.

Hi guys,

Wow, so great to find such knowledgeable people - you guys know your stuff - Hoping you could help me out...

I just inherited my Dads old Bianchi, its been bouncing around family members (and the world - 3 contents and many more counties) and has finally landed with me. As a kid I loved this bike and wished it would be mine one day!
So now I would like to restore it to its former glory as its in a terrible state - look at these bars someone put on it Sacrilege !!

Any way I know every little about it and would love to know as much as possible. What I do know from my dad was it was bought between 1982-84, and he paid an arm and a leg for it - he told me stories about how this was the very top of the line in his day and that this same bike was in the tour de France (not this one the model).

Wow, you guys certainly know your stuff.

I'm trying to ID the frame below. It's been for sale for $250 in my area for a while... clearly overpriced, but if I wanted to negotiate a price, I have to know something about this frame.

It has no decals whatsoever. I have a serial number for it as well. The components on it are:
Takagi tourney cranks
SR stem
Tange headset (Levin, IIRC)

No info on tubing, I can't read anything on the dropouts either. Serial number CS302044.

1983 Japanese manufactured frame. I see a forged dropout with integral hanger and bottle bosses, so it's probably not hi-tensile but the best it would be is a Limited with Ishiwata 022 and may be something slightly lower. Best indicator would be to determine the required seat post size. I believe this one surfaced recently in another thread. $250 is outrageous. Knock the 2 off and you're in the ballpark.

Thanks, I was looking at an 84 Limited since it has the same crank (takagi tourney) and arrow cutouts. I'll check seatpost size.

Yeah, the price was ridiculous. I was never going to pay over $100 for it. The crazy thing is, the tag says it was marked down from $500... Absolute insanity or someone knows nothing about vintage bikes. It's in an antique store.

Hi guys! I am very new to these forums. I need some help identifying my Bianchi also. From the research I have done it appears to be a 1985 Mondiale. I bought if off an old guy but he didn't tell me really anything about them. Can't tell much from the gears as it came with a complete late 90s 9 speed Record groupset. I have rebuild it with some more modern components. The BB shell says: 4915 and also has M.6 underneath. Formula 1 steel

I have tried to add photos, but its not working? any help there??

Based on the serial it should be 1986, possibly 1987. However, no Formula One tubesets in the USA in 1987. In 1986 it was used on the Vittoria and Trofeo. Put the pictures in a photo hosting site and link to it.

Hi, sorry that no members picked up on your post 11 months ago. Hopefully you're still around. I see a Piaggio decal which places it 1980-1984. The pics don't allow me to identify any of the major components but the rear derailleur appears to be a slant parallelogram type with a steel body. Consequently, it should be Suntour and fairly low end. Assuming it is OEM would mean the frame is of Japanese origin and entry level, probably one of the Sport variants. The serial number would tell us the exact year. ics of the major compoents (crankset, brakes, derailleurs) would allow us to determine the model. The wheels have been replaced, based on the dark anodized rims.

I'm new to this bike forum and I need some help! I recently came across this Bianchi frame for pretty cheap, but I cant identify which one it could be. I know its an 80's model, the red might make me think that its a non-Italian build? Or i may be wrong altogether, as I've looked at the serial number and they're all just digits, no letters which has me confused...

This one is easy to identify. The rectangluar 1986-1987 Campione Del Mondo on the down tube indicates that it's a 1987 model, while the serial number indicates that it was manufactured in Taiwan during October 1986. The combination of red paint, stamped dropouts, a kickstand plate and down tube cable stops are all indicative of the bottom of the line Strada model. The 1987 Bianchi Strada frame used an unidentified plain gauge CrMo steel (likely Tange #5 ) for the main triangle, with hi-tensile steel spec'd for the stays and fork.

T-Mar! Thank you! ... Yes I realised I should have taken it from the drive side! the cranks say Super Custom on them 170mm 53/42 chain ring. Any advice on what I should do with it? Is it worth putting it together as a road bike or turning it into a fixed? I have a peugeot U-08 as well undecided what to do with them!

Any idea what the bottom bracket threading is? trying to replace it not sure if to get an english thread or an italian thread?

Given Taiwanese manufacture the bottom bracket should be English threading. This is easily determined by verifying the stamping on the cups and/or their direction of rotation. English cups will be marked 1.37 x 24T and the adjustable cup will be right hand threaded, with the fixed being left hand threaded. Italian cups will be market 36 x 24T and both cups will be right hand threaded.

Hi Everyone!
I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this bottom bracket. I want to replace the old bottom bracket with a new one T-Mar you are correct! It is an English threaded bottom bracket... now where I'm getting confused is when I measure the frame width. It comes out to be 70mm?! I thought all english threaded BB were 68mm.... Italian were 70mm? Is it possible to find an English threaded BB that fits a 70mm frame?

These are closer photos... my new crank arms are square taper JIS... the bolt they come with certainly don't.... I'm having a hard time... I still cant post images... There are no markings on the cups

What cranks do you have? You need to buy a English bottom bracket (BB) that has the correct spindle length for that model and year crank.

I was wondering if anyone is familiar with the "Racing Team" decal that is on my late 90s (i think) alloy Bianchi which came equipped with campy veloce 8s and can help identify what model I have.
I know it's nothing fancy and it definetly isn't a Reparto Corse but I cannot for the life of me find any picture of a bike like mine on the internet.
If anybody thinks they might know something intersting I'm glad to post a few pictures of the bike, although I hope my component choice won't traumatize anybody ahah.
