This one too. Egner Koga 10 Speed Very Rare

What do you think this bike is worth? And what year is it? I am guessing a 1974 and worth 150. Thanks

A Koga-Miyata would be no older than 1974. Based on the presence of wing nuts, it's likely mid-1970s. It's definitely entry level based on the stem shifters, safety levers. steel rims, steel cottered crankset and stamped dropouts. The stem is almost certainly dangerously high. It's hard to identify the derailleurs from the photo, but thy appear to be Shimano Eagle and Thunderbird, which were entry level. It's also hard to judge the condition, outside of the rusty chain.. Assuming good condition, I'd value it at ~$40. People looking to buy a bicycle at this level typically aren't concerned about rarity.

Definitely not worth $150. At $150, there are much better bikes out there. $30-$40 is about right.

Agreed. No matter the year or if it is indeed rare, I’d pass it up at a yard sale. Sorry to put it that way. If you like it, ride and enjoy. That’s the real reason we do bikes, isn’t it?

I would pay no more than twenty dollars for the entry level steed and be sorry that I had done so. That said, I lean towards higher end stuff and, please, make no mistake about it...

A bike does not have to be top dog in the kennel to be worth while. In fact, the best ride I ever experienced, and loved every moment of it, was on a dump found entry level Legnano that was perfect for me...

I would agree on value being low only $50 or so and it would be a pass for with the rust and some rough looking parts. Also I would no consider a 70's department store entry level bike made in Koga Japan to be rare or very desriable there were a half dozen or so larger makers and a several smaller contract builders located in Koga that put out 10's of thousands of entry level bikes like this one during the 70's.

Yep, same seller as OP. BBC, West Coast chapter. Suburban for $999.....etc..

Local pickup only, in Omak, WA. Not exactly a booming bicycle market.

I have to admit, it doesn't look like it was used much at all. (Probably because it was a heavy miserable thing to ride). As-is $50 tops. But, maybe with a brand new set of Kenda gumwalls on it and all lubed it up. It could be worth around $75 to somebody. Maybe even more in a hot market.

Thxs. The additional pictures confirm the derailleurs to be Eagle and Thunderbird, as I originally thought. They're definitely not Titlist as per the Ebay listing. This combination dates the bicycle no newer than 1976. Boy does it lever look bad when the seller cleans off one tiny section of a very dirty rim to show the branding.

Yes I give the OP an “A” for listening. Still not a $75 bike. But that’s a lot closer than $250.

To sell on eBay you really have to be willing and able to pack and ship at a low cost. Because of the burden of shipping, I find eBay only works on the better stuff. Low end stuff like this bike is either sell cheap locally or donate. Me, it’s not rideable and getting it rideable just means I lose more on the bike. So I would donate it.

Please don't confuse ebay "asking" prices with "selling" prices. Many sellers never get their ask price. some are far from it. Value is determined once an item actually SELLS. Its easy enough to check SOLD prices.
