Yeah, I dunno. Looks like a pretty significant amount of bent tube there, both top-/downtube---took a pretty decent front-end hit. If that big missing patch of paint on the drive side is from the bend, well, that ain't good.

Handling will likely be weird/squirrelly. I don't have enough metallurgy smarts to advise whether it's rideable as is, aside from any handling issues. It's probably not ultra-thin tubing, but I'd never give a thumbs-up on something like that.

I've seen worse, your front tire isn't rubbing against the downtube, although clearance there is much tighter than designed.

You might be able to find a shop with a frame jack, that can try to straighten it. They'd have to bend it a little past straight/normal and hope it settles right.

Replacing the whole front end, then getting paint, is likely a $400+ job at the low end? Franklin Frames charges $75-$120ea for main tubes, $100 for head tube. Not sure if the head tube would be cheaper since the whole front end would be replaced? If not, that's $250 min for the framework, plus lug cost I reckon, not sure he'd re-use the originals. Plus $300+ for paint.

On the one hand, that sucks mightily. On the other hand, you're only out $40 so far, and you could get that for just selling the headset. And unless you've fallen mega-hard in love with it already, it's not your special bike that you've had for 40yrs. That was the other guy.

That Pinarello's definitely bent. You could have it straightened, but it really looks like the tubes are compromised. If you're going to fix, best bet is sending it out for replacement of the top and down tubes, followed by paint and decals. You'll be spending some coin if you do that, though.

I'd consider doing it if you really like the bike - have a thing for Pinarello, or it fits you and you have money to burn.

But remember it’s a low-end Pinarello, almost certainly not all SL given clues already mentioned before it was shown to be worthless (= repair cost greater than undamaged value).

Some nice Super Record parts, which is odd on a low-end bike, true.

Forgive my ignorance but what is SL? If this bike was not damaged what would it be worth?

SL refers to the tubes, made by Columbus. SL (Super Light?) was/is a double butted tube set, not top of the range, but highly regarded. I guess similar to Reynolds 531.

If your frame is an Italia model, the three main tubes are probably SL and the rest probably Aelle or KL.

Well I contacted Franklin Frames to get a estimate for fixing the damage. So I will update you on what I find out and the plan moving forward. Thank y'all for the help, I appreciate it.

So I finally got a quote back from Franklin. It is going to cost me $675. That will include top tube and down tube replacement, paint, alignment, and decals.

What do y'all think about that and is the bike worth it? Or should I just part it out?

Strip it and maybe someone with frame tools will buy the frame as a project for $40. Nice collection of parts; you still hit the jackpot and good frame deals show up here on BF from time to time.
