Today's easy ride after a week full of racing. Did nearly 70 miles of XC MTB racing on Friday, so it was nice to get some mellow road miles in. A couple of the pictures show why I'm a fan of wide road tires...

The weather's finally getting nice up here in the mountains, so a very climb-y 72 miler/10300' gain ride from my house today:

gorgeous. monitor pass? *edit...yah...saw the other thread after my response. have only driven over monitor pass (once but semi-slowly with obvious purpose) to preview. that longish upper, flattish/rolling part is the giveaway.

The 24% sign, I'd recognize that anywhere. That's Ebbetts Pass. Is it already open?
The other photos clearly are Monitor Pass, both sides.
Time for a road trip!

Monitor pass is open. Ebbetts is still officially closed, although the intel is that it's passable by bike to the top. I didn't ride Ebbetts on this ride, I just rode both sides of Monitor.

Figuero Mtn Rd - Santa Ynez ? I don't recognize this section ! I stopped riding Fig Mt last year - The road became SO crappy from the rainstorm damage, that it was a nightmare of broken roadway, potholes and loose sand/grit, going back down !!! This looks recently paved ? On lower flat section coming in from Los Olivos ? Doesn't look like Happy Cyn... I hiked Grass Mtn about 2 months ago, and there was some 'patch repair' on the approach, but not a tarmac carpet like this !!!
Is there another Figueroa Mtn in Ca. ?

Yesterday's ride, included my favorite local 3200' climb:
The road's down there I swear...
You can kinda see the road ahead on one of the ridges, the bottom of the climb is in the far canyon:
The end of the road:
Turning around:
Racing the thunderstorms back to the finish:
