105 5800 on a new frame with PF30 BB
I recently bought a Bianchi Infinito CV frame that previously had Campagnolo superrecord on it with CeramicSpeed PF30 bottom bracket. My local bike shop swapped the groupset with my own 105 5800.
What's worrying me is, he removed the bearings that were on the frame (not sure why) and installed the ones I had on the previous frame, which were 105 5700 bearings. Aren't there any compatibility issues? since the bearings came from 2 different bottom brackets? or are they the same?
The bike rides fine, but I when I look up 105 5800 BB, it's different that the one I have here. I just want to make sure everything is in order, if not, what are my options?
- Buy new bearings for the PF30 BB, the ones I have are starting to wear out. if so, which ones I need? 6806?
- Buy a complete PF30 BB.
- Leave it be.
Any help and advice is appreciated, thanks.
PS: This is the only bike shop in town.

Shimano doesn't make anything related to BB30, so what ever bearing you have are probably done with third party adapters.
Why not ask you mechanic hat he has done, this will get better answer than the best guess your get on here (or any forum) as he knows what he did, and hopefully, why he did it.

I'm just trying to get a second opinion from other mechanics here, or at least more experienced riders.
It rides fine for now, but who knows what will happen in the long run.

Buy a Praxis when it is time to switch.
The exact part for Shimano cranks in BB30/PF30 frames is https://praxiscycles.com/product/shimano-conversion-bb/.
It is not an adapter but a full bottom bracket. It screws together using a standard Shimano bottom bracket tool. There is nothing to press and it will not creak.

It looks like it has a Ceramic Speed PF30 to 24mm bottom bracket/adapter installed.

The reason the mechanic change bearings is because the ones for the Campy crankset would not have worked with your shimano cranks. The determining factor is spindle diameter of the crankset. For your pf30 frame to take shimano cranks, which have 24mm spindle, you needed an adaptor or BB designed to make the 24mm spindle work with the PF30 bb shell of the frame, which accomodates 30mm spindles without said adaptor/bb. Campy ultra torque spindles are 25mm so would use a different size adaptor. Both Shimao 5700 and 5800 cranks have the same spindle confguration, which is why the set up from your old pf30 frame and 5700 cranks works with the new pf30 frame and 5800 cranks. As TimothyH suggests, when time comes to change your bb bearings, Praxis is a good option.
