My BMC is called "The BMC". My wife likes to name things, so our black Davidson tandem is "Raven" but I still usually refer to it as "the tandem".

Levon is my monstercross dirt road bike
Butternut is my fixed gear around town/commuter bike

I don't understand naming them. I have a Felt Z85. So guess what I call it? Yep, my Z85. I never understood people naming cars either. They already have names.

Usually depends on if I am having problems such as a flat, broken spoke or bonking on a climb. The names in those cases are not endearing.

My bicycle came with a name. Whenever I call it anything other than "my bike", I call it "my Crossroads". Mostly I don't call it anything at all, though. It's just like my cat; it doesn't come when I call it...

Brand names in the mass market are all over bike frames and components ,

only the one I built Myself from tubeset Upward ,

was un branded .. and the other one I built with the help of a cargo bike builder ,

I only named my banjo ukelele.. it was recovered from serious disrepair ..

It,rebuilt, has a wooden 'Head' now. Hank Williams senior had a song about s carved store front wooden Indian,
with a 'wooden Head ' I named it after that songs topic.

Like someone else said; My bikes already came with names already stenciled on them so that is what they are called. Fuji, Gazelle & Diamondback. If I ever get two bikes of one brand I will have to get more creative.

My main ride is named 'Starbucks'. It is my first mate in my relentless, obsessive pursuit of the whale that bit my leg off, or, you know, health and fitness. Also, it is the color of a latte. My other two bikes I haven't named.

I don't name anything that won't come when I call it. Except my current cats. All my previous cats would, in fact, come from wherever in the house they were when I called their name.

I agree, but you should use words like anthropomorphize whenever possible. George Orwell is one of my favorite anthropomorphisists.

As Thomas L. Friedman says, "In the world of ideas, to name something is to own it. If you can name an issue, you can own the issue." This is an interesting thought in that owning an idea only occurs in the mental world. Hence, one could argue that naming an idea is the first step in understanding the idea. Ergo, transforming this to the world of bicycle ownership, one could say that naming a bicycle means you own/understand it. All of my bikes remain an enigma to me. I comprehend little about them. I can’t for the life of me understand that whenever I mount the Colnago it keeps pushing to go faster and faster. Nor, can I fathom why the S-Works Roubaix beckons me to find hills to climb. And, trying to get my thinking around why the Habanero Team Issue wants to be in the rain defies any logic I can muster. The Jamis Eclipse seems content to sit on the trainer for hours on end while suffering none of the boredom I experience when spinning; how can that be? I can’t even begin to come to terms with why the IF Crown Jewel sits patiently and whispers, “Anytime, anywhere, and for any reason, I’m here and ready to go.” No, I’m not yet ready to name my bikes. They remain a mystery to me.

I don't name bikes, Cars either unless they are over 50 years old.
That's why my old truck is named Molly MoPar.

My mother named all her cars "Ol' Bessie". Once, when she got a new car we asked why she didn't call it "New Bessie". It was years before I understood what she meant when she said, "Ol' Bessie is the closest I can come to what I really want to call it".

My MTB/long distance bike is "the tank" built to take beating and keep riding - crash into steel bars proved that.
My Hybrid is yet to be named but "not yet right" fits the bill... still needs a few mods to get it to where I want it be
My shopping basket/kid carrier is "the mule" because it can carry one heck of a load.
