A bargain! They sell on the bay for 1400$!

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-1985...item519f2842fb

Mine was free so the price should be somewhere in between. 225$ really isn't that bad; mine had a huge chainstay bend I repaired.

Fify

I don't think $225 is to bad either because it looks like it's in terrific shape.

'Converted' to single speed. Sad, really.
Are CL bike flippers really that mechanically inept, or simply lazy & cheap??

I love how the 'always kept indoors' and the sun-faded head badge and
rust on the rat traps and crank rings back each other up. Not.

I suspect there's a huge dose of ineptitude here, but don't you think that red chain really makes it "pop"? :-)

I like the part where the seller says "you will get more than my asking price if you sell it." I can't believe a beat-up Varsity fetches $175 anywhere, let alone in economically depressed SE MI.

[h=2]Schwinn Varsity Yellow Bike - $175 (Royal Oak)[/h]
This is the real deal. All original. I already spent $65 on new tires. Everything works great. This is ready for a good cleaning. You will get way more than what I am asking should you decide to sell it. Call me when you have $175 Cash. Call me at 248-760-0668

Many more than 50 still exist... "Bicycle Heaven" in Pittsburgh has four of them in their showroom/museum. Weren't there over 500 made? Maybe there are 50 or so "known," but there are many more out there in private collections, under tarps in barns, etc.

Apparently someone else is frustrated by seeing the same crappy over priced bikes re-listed every single day for months.

(My father emailed a response : "I'm very interested in your bike. Please send some dark out of focus photos")

[h=2]To all the "vintage Schwinn" salesmen - $1000000 (pittsturd)[/h]Wow, have I got a deal for you!! It is a second hand beater schwinn from the 70's-80's that i put new tires and bar tape on so NOW it is a vintage gem. Yes indeed, this here varsity, continental, worldsport, traveler is decked out with moderately rusty midrange suntour components from the factory- all original. No the bike isn't chromoly, no it wasn't that great brand new, but I am still expecting to get $200 for this $20 thriftstore throw away.

Seriously, It is nothing special. If it didn't sell the first time you listed it on here for your insanely marked up price, then it probably isn't going to sell the 11th time you list it. You are a moron. There is no market in this area, Porland or Sanfran maybe, but not here. Get bent (lke the ****ty steal fork of your ****ty "vintage steal")

Thank you, that is all.

Maybe part of the problem was the language barrier. If you were able to read the novel-like description, you'd find this at the bottom. Publicado con eBay Móvil . The guy has 100% positive feedback though This is by far my favorite line - "I had to make some modifications brakes pear adapt him. had modifications were to drill the Hollos where the brakes are held by the inner side but this is not absolutely nothing affects the operation of the frame"
He sounds like a pro bike surgeon... I'd take his word for it, especially after looking at his ridiculous seat/stem set-up...

BGirl,
In your professional opinion - do you think that looks like a 58cm bike? Also, that looks like a blue pantographed seat post. There's probably $500 in parts on this bike. Thoughts...

I wouldn't touch this auction with a ten foot pole. I've dealt with people like this before, nothing but heartache ensued.

It looks more like a 57 to me. I think the frame started life as a '83ish 980 or Alloro level bike which would likely make it TreTubi Columbus and falck stays. The eatpost looks like a Laparde or SR it might be blue but doesn't look special to me. Mix of Chorus w/ CdA Delta brakes/ Too bad about the broken QR pin, if one had a really beat up or broken lever you might be able to repair it.

I don't think I would spend $500 plus shipping for it with inspecting in person.

OH yeah drilling Hollos in the frame for the brakes I love that.

This is very tempting, I have an Ashtabulah crank lying around a need good frame for
