59cm Handmade Falcon custom bike w/ Campagnolo Record 8 speed! - $850 (Allston)

make / manufacturer: Falcon
Up for sale is a handmade custom Falcon bicycle. It is loaded with all the awesome Campy goodness like the monoplaner brakes and a super sweet Vento wheelset w/campy hubs(Super rare and worth about $500 on their own!). The Record shifters shift super crisply and must have been rebuilt before I bought the bike because they shift better than my 10 speed Chorus shifters! The frame and fork are both Reynold 653 which rides like 531 but is lighter! I am only selling because it is slightly too small for me.

Seat tube:
59cm - c-c
60cm - c-t

Top tube:
57.5cm

Beautiful De Rosa. Little out of my price range though.

https://buffalo.craigslist.org/bik/5949651621.html

This is a beautiful classic bike for those who truly value the craftsmanship of steel frames. This is the manufacturer Merckx rode to win the 1974 Tour de France. Classically, De Rosa is up there with Pinarello and Colnago as the Italian masters.

This is a 56cm Columbus steel frame with some minor scrapes. Full Campagnolo Record components and wheels, cinelli stem and handlebar, and look keo pedals. Expertly maintained in perfect working condition throughout its life. I have several other bikes that I ride, this one is more of a dream-bike/collector.

I hate to part with this beauty, but make an offer.

The headset is Campagnolo--a lead! Also, full Reynolds 531, which will put it at a 6xx level or above. Paint color, seat post clamp type, and experience with this era (one color, no two-tone just yet) and decal arrangement (aka minimal) has me guessing 1980 or earlier, though not too much (using Vintage Trek brochures to help). Most likely a model 737 or 738. The 73x level was 531 throughout with tight road/race geometry, which this is. The 007 and 008 suffixes denote Gran Sport or Nuovo Record componentry.

It looks super grubby, but well within restoring full shine to the paint (dark blue metallic is a winner for me all day long) and components. For $400, it is a great asking price, IMO. The frameset alone is at least half that, if not more.
