Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

91A for the high today. Awaiting that big purple blob from up north. Today was/is my first day of real activity in about a week. I took a day off to rest, and it just became a habit.
Feels good to work again. One of these days I’ll get back on the bike again.

There was a place in Tacoma that made THE BEST! I'm in Flagstaff now and not sure where I'd go to find anything close. Although IHOP had some around St. Paddy's day that were surprisingly not too bad, but not great.

...most places are not willing to cook their own corned beef. And personally, I prefer the beef shredded, rather than chopped. The most dismal corners of the universe do a bait and switch, where they make the stuff with canned corned beef. Which is an abomination. There's a place down in Marin, right across from the Marin Mountain Bike Museum in Fairfax, called the Hummingbird Cafe. If it's still there, post pandemic, that place served an excellent corned beef hash.

I have too many t-shirts. Event shirts, shirts from vendors, etc...

Haven't had to buy one in years.

TdZ Stage 1 ride, 22nd / 268 I think. Was supposed to be an easy day.... and it mostly was! Except the climb lol (oops).

I had great legs despite a foggy brain and feeling tired from the crap sleep that our little one afforded us. Gonna go hard tomorrow - or, if the child doth permit. I should be able to slay.

Settled into group 2 after a moderately hard start, then let loose on the climb when I saw I could catch and pass a bunch of people.

It's like hitting yourself in the head with a brick - it feels really good when you stop.

Really nice! Looks like 7400 DA. 6 or 7 speed?

But don't you need some butter and salt to go with that corncob?

See, here's my problem - I rode up Leith Hill at 255-280w, but for me that's not even 3w/kg, whereas for him it's almost 5!

My favorite local sandwich shop makes their own corned beef for their "12 Hour Reuben". It's delicious.

It is a semi-fantastical retelling of the losses of HMS Terror and Erebus, derived from the book The Terror. They were lost attempting the Northwest Passage, and the book was written with the best research at the time. AMC then used yet newer knowledge filming the series, and brought a native actress and tweaked the script to give her lines in Inuktitut, and cleaned up the flow to where it is the rare case where I believe the series is actually better. Highly recommended if you don't mind a bit of horror. Uses a bunch of the GoT actors.

...6 cogs in the back. The course terrain here is flat to rolling, with a minimum of rolling. I have other bikes to ride if I go up past Folsom.
