Shmano Altus 7 speed shifters w/ Suntour XCE mechs?

These are the Alttus V Brake / shifter combo, from a 2002 Gary Fisher Mamba going onto a 1991 Trek 850.

I suppose this is a question on compatibility? No the Shimano and Suntour systems were not intended to be compatible. One might get a few shifts that work sort of well but the differences of cable pull, der movement and cog c-c spacings will add up before too many shifts. Andy

I trash picked these bikes to make one out of two to sell or trade for something that fits me for the winter.
