Anyone ride a bullmoose conversion?

I recently did my ‘84 Trek 520 in Rivendell’s Bosco-Bullmoose bars. Ive lowered them a bit since this pic to compensate for some of the flex in the 1pc stem/bar. Overall I am pleased with the comfort level which was my main reason for the swap.

I’d like to see some other setups 🤙

Wowowow! The 520 looks gorgeous with the bull moose bars. I have never had a pair of the bars myself, but a friend runs beautiful Nitto Bullmoose bars on his Benotto Track. The ride quality is superb and the bike is surely a head turner!

Wish I had some pictures to contribute, maybe some other build photos will inspire me...

What was your bar setup before switching to the bullmoose?

The pedals are Blackspire Sub4. A while back amazon had them marked down from $95 to $9 so I bought 5 pair 🤣

Well I don't know if this came with them, Jim wasn't sure. It came to me me without so I decided to make it right, they ride great but it's way small for me so I haven't ridden it much, they do feel very right.

I have several bull moose but not the swept back- that is super cool! I really think that may be the first example I have ever seen with that set up and I hope you start a new trend-

some long threads on putting drops on a MTB, but bull moose on a road/touring? I like it. I like it a lot. also I love that crankset.

oh, i have a set of super wide bull moose on a trashed bike... put it on a road bike? I had never even considered.

Here's my '84 Stumpjumper Sport. I'd like to see how Bosco Bullmoose bars would be on this bike.

Im not a bullmoose rider, but I saw this one at the Handmade Bike Show in LA recently.

Big gear, small wheels, funky bars.

You forgot short couple and a flat, pretty bizarre all the way around.

It's not a conversion, just the original bars on my High Sierra. Love the shifters too.

Cimarrons came stock with a different bar setup but I built this one up from a frameset with parts I'd had on its predecessor. These may actually have been bars from a High Sierra warrantied because the brake hanger broke off. Shame to toss an otherwise useful item, right?

The other conversion. Original bullmoose bars were swapped out with a threadless .833 converter courtesy of the Colonel. Not a balanced look but functional.

The bullmoose bars messed bad with my carpel issues so they had to go but I've kept them. 84 Norco Bigfoot.

These various swept-back bars work especially well on frames having slack angles, especially EF Schwinns or Huffy/Murray (all @ ~70 degrees), older MTB's (69-71 degrees), and Raleigh Super Course / Grand Sports (71-degrees).

Also many of the Japanese lower-end and sports/touring bikes can have headtube angles near about 71-72 degrees, likely the Trek 520 also.

The taller, wider and shorter-reaching bar/stem combos can lighten the steering tremendously, making even an old Schwinn Varsity or Collegiate respond briskly to steering input.

But putting tall, swept-back bars on a track bike or road bike might be too much of a good(?) thing, though it might become helpful if the front of the bike were loaded.
