Maybe I spoke too soon - just got an email that schools are staying open, following the current recommendations of the MN Depts of Health and Education. They told us the same thing yesterday, but I guess they felt the need to reiterate. *sigh* wtf is going on?

Took the girl dogs rabbiting today. They did a great job and had so much fun. Three rabbits in 50 minutes, definitely some fine work.
Interesting to see the difference in late season rabbits vs early season rabbits. Which is to say immature rabbits vs mature rabbits.
Mature rabbits are pretty decisive. When they bolt, they bolt. Off like lightening, short maybe 50 ft runs, then they arc back close to where they bolted from. Its hard for the dogs, once the rabbits bolt, everything’s over in a flash.
These late season rabbits are so obviously inexperienced adolescents. They’re indecisive. They hop half heartedly away and then stop. The dogs can get closer to them and stick with them a bit, actually see the rabbit moving a few feet away. They don’t always pick the best cover to bolt to and then have to move again. The dogs can keep pressuring them to move around in a thicket but they don’t have the confidence to make the definitive run. Or they do a long straight run across open ground, which is a mistake because they could get chased down- not by a dachshund which is really a rabbit flushing dog- but a sight hound or a coyote could catch one for sure. Or a hunter with a rifle.
Ive never done any hunting type stuff before but it’s obvious to me that if I were actually hunting rabbits, about now would be a good time to have at it. Inexperienced rabbits seem like they’d be way easier to bag than the wily mature ones you encounter in Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb.

If you watched that video Velo Vol posted a couple weeks ago, on the 1918 flu, this all makes sense. In those days the whole world was Orangie.

I thought I was mostly done with weights, but with the cancellations, there's now plenty of time for recovery.
