Tandem on Smart Trainer

I have been looking at purchasing a smart trainer that can be controlled by apps like Zwift. I have been unable to find one that accepts quick release rear hubs wider than 135mm. I see the Kickr has a weight limit and read the thread on it.

Has anyone used a smart trainer with their tandem?
Has anyone adapted a smart trainer to a 145mm rear drop out?

It shouldn't be too hard to fashion a spacer for the Kick'r to facilitate 145mm rear spacing. I could probably go out to the garage and make one now. Kick'r includes a spacer for 130 and 135 (you just flip it around.) I don't know what the weight limit is, so I can't speak to that (my wife, my tandem, and I only weigh about 270lbs total.)

Weight limited stated at 250 lbs. Not sure if that includes the bike. If so I know a few single riders that exceed it.

Wayne,

We have used the computrainer on our tandem for several years. NO PROBLEM! I use the computrainer and ErgVideos and we get a really good workout. Our team weight is under 300 pounds.

Send me your email address and I will send you a picture of our setup.

We use a modified BOBS quick release for the rear wheel.

We have used ours on a Wahoo kickr. Had to fabricate a new spacer for the 145 spacing. Works fine.
