When I use the icon "to mention," it comes out with the @ symbol preceding the user name, followed by a semi-colon after the user name, and the mention is not listed on my user profile, so apparently does not work.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Note, there's no space between the @ and name.




BTW- since your name had spaces, I wasn't sure it would work, so I copied and pasted your name in the profile, so it would be a single unit. When I tried @Jim from Boston (typed) it didn't work (or did it?) (getting the caps right seems to have made the difference)

Don't include the semi-colon.

I've used the "mention" icon, for your name and just copied and pasted your name in between the MENTION and /MENTION ... without the semi-colon.

Oh, and Mentions don't seem to appear in our profiles anymore.

I've noticed when using chrome on Android, and the Mobile view, that mentions don't show in the body of the message, but they still function.

So @Machka, I mentioned you, I think you will be notified and I can see it in desktop mode. Anyone else have this happen?

I think I read earlier about mentions and spaces. I don't know if it was fixed.

If one copies the name of a person from the left side of the page, it creates a link, almost the same as a mention, but as far as I can tell, it doesn't send a notification.

Thanks to you fellow subscribers for answering my thread. So when I use the mention icon, the name appears preceded by @ symbol and followed by the ;, but then they disappear after the first Preview Post

Trying FBinNY's method, I will directly type and underline @FBinNY .

Trying Machka's method to hit the Icon and then type in the name: Machka It appeared with the @ and ; then the punctuation disappeared after the first Preview Post.

I seem to recall that back a while, one typed in the subscriber's ID and the enclosed it in the icon mention: 4588. Same result.

I did note that the mentions of me by Machka and FBinNY from today did appear in my profile. My own last sucessful mention on my profile was from 2/12/18. I will check after I send this post.

Finally, while my thread languished unanswered for a few days, I was going to post a paraphrase of a well known rhyme, and that may be my ultimate conclusion:

Here I sit,
Broken-hearted.
Wanna mention,
But can't get started.

PS: None of my attempted mentions appeared.

@Jim from Boston when I try a mention I just type the "@" symbol followed by the username then either a comma, like a formal letter of old, or I have no punctuation after the mention. As I noticed earlier the mobile view will hide the mention, how do you usually view BF?

I didn't subscribe but instead saw the post using the new post search

I have on previous occasions excused my delay in posting or replying to PMs, so if I may post here to put it on the record, I was planning to reply when I first saw your posts, but I got caught up with posting more immediately to several various threads. I usually try to post promptly on the Forums because they proceed so quickly, but I carfully compose and savor my PM's. PS: Success

And I did this to mention you ... MENTION GrainBrain /MENTION .. with, of course, square brackets around the MENTION.

No punctuation.

They used to come up under "Your Notifications" to let you know you have a mention, but they don't appear there anymore.

Try something like

and make sure the first box (Enable mention restrictions) is UNCHECKED.

If that URL translates into a page in your account like it shows for mine then the entire page is in a similar vein for settings.
