Yeah, the Elites are a great rim, especially for like $26 each from Ben's. Have a set on the Merckx Century, laced to tricolor hubs. Very nice.

Limited drillings, though.

Ben's doesn't carry them any more. Otherwise, the cheapest price I could find was Universal Cycles at $50.

Ben's eBay storefront shows more than 10 available at $25.99 per with free shipping. That's a deal, right there. Assuming the storefront info is correct.

Laced 'em up last night while watching a movie with my wife. Made some nice ribolitta soup, which paired nicely with a bottle of red meritage.

Woke up early this morning to true them up.

H+ TB14's laced 32 hole to a Shutter Precision SV-8 generator hub in front, 36 hole VO Hi-Lo hub in the rear. Spokes are Sapim 2.0-1.5 DB with nickle plated brass nipples.

And a tiny dollop of grease for seasoning. I see your wife is as tolerant as mine about bike stuff in the house.

I am going to use a pair of NOS Araya RC-540 32H rims (they're also available in 36H) with NOS SunShine Pro-Am hubs for a wheel build on a vintage frame. They are 415 grams in weight, so both light and advertised as quite strong. They are described as a training rim for Japanese bike racers when they are not racing on tubular rims/tires.

Those look great, Mark. Did you have any trouble with wind-up using those spokes on the rear drive-side? I haven't ventured into 1.5mm spokes yet, but I'm curious.

That's what I was thinkin'. FWIW, I have M13-II on several bikes, have put many miles on them in a variety of conditions. I'm happy with them. They stay true, weren't hard to build up, look good.

Those are really nice wheels. Exactly what I want to get at some point as well.

Thanks. The VO hub is sort of an experiment. The Hi-Lo model was a blowout at $50. I don't really care one way or another on flange size except for aesthetics, but the hub is unusual in that you can break it down without any tools. The freehub can be removed easily to repair a broken spoke, for example. I had heard some early feedback about the freehub breaking down for some users, but it's been awhile. Perhaps the issue has been fixed? One nice thing is it's easy to get inside and clean the pawls and re-oil. Does anybody have any experience with these?

The Shutter Precision generator hub is one generation old. The latest model is lighter, more efficient, but has a dull, sandblasted looking finish. I went with pretty over function.
