I am about 2 miles from the Benbrook YMCA. I haven't done much research yet, but I am curious how they do the swim. My undestanding is they use the pool there -- would seem a bit chaotic.

I saw people wearing their biking shorts under the wetsuit - strip off wetsuit as they were running from swim to the bike. Not sure if they change shorts for the bike to run transition though.

They do use the pool you start by your swim time so you should know what you can do 300m in. They start about 10 seconds apart. You swim down and back in the same lane then under the rope and do the same thing and exit the opposite side of the pool for T1. Not bad unless your passing at the wrong time and end up three wide in the same lane.

What about the "Tri suits"--not really a wetsuit from what I can tell, but looks like something you'd wear throughout the event...

Yeah, I'm pretty psyched. It's GORGEOUS, and fast as hell from the reviews/feedback I've gotten on it. Looks like the maiden race will be a duathlon at the end of September...

Yup - head over to the tri forum if you are serious about doing a race or two. Then search. A bazillion - what do I do/what should I wear threads.
Oh and FYI - Unless you are doing an Ironman (they have tents to change in), nekkid is a no-go. As is running/riding topless. Bare torsos will get you DQ'd.

I've been digging around and finding some good tri resources on the web... I think it's going to be tri suit plus wetsuit for me. I need all the help I can get in the water.
Got my TI DVD and book from Amazon too. Seems pretty easy to follow, and I like the stepwise progression of it. Suddenly I have faith that I can become a swimmer.

I did a weekend workshop in Chicago from Total Immersion. It was Incredible. Completely rewrites you on how to swim. EFFICIENTLY!

Well, as expected, the guys at Competitive Cyclist have been amazing. After mulling over all my fit data and a couple chats via e-mail and phone about the particulars, I placed the order for the P2 on Wednesday. I was sort of randomly checking the status to discover that my order for a custom-built, made-to-order bike shipped 48 hours after I'd placed the order. That's well ahead of the assembly time listed on their site, and flat-out impressive for any shop. I'll probably be riding this thing faster than if I'd purchased it from the local Cervelo dealer!
I've never heard anything but raves about the quality and precision of their builds, so I'm very excited to see the finished product. Hopefully the guys at UPS won't trash it.
