Pinarello v. Specialized
I've been waiting on an 09 Pinarello FP2 from my LBS. They told me back in early July that the new bikes should be in sometime in mid August. At the time I bought my girlfriend a Ruby Elite and have been mashing around on my old mountain bike with her. Last week they called to say that the 09 Pinarellos won't be in stock until at least September and they're unsure about that.
I rode a Tarmac Elite and it fit well enough, but I thought that the FP2 felt a little more responsive. Also the Tarmac elite at 1950 comes with 105 while the FP2 is Ultegra which I prefer. I'm inclined to keep wiating for the FP2, but do any of you guys think I should just take the Tarmac instead?

I ride Pinarellos, and love Pinarellos, but I'd take the Tarmac. The FP2 has nothing going for it, it's Prince or Paris or Dogma or nothing.

Wait for it. It's what you really want and you'll kick yourself later if you don't.

look at the tarmac expert.... i bet it's still less than the FP2 and it comes with ultegra SL. just another thought...
have you spent much time on the tarmac..the expert is a stiffer frame than the elite so it might be more responsive.

The FP2 was 2000 last year. The Tarmac expert at 3k is slightly more than I want to spend.
I think I might go ride the Tarmac again this weekend.

To further complicate the decision - what about the FP3? Jumps up into a different price range ($4k rather than 2) but that's essentially the Prince with a lower grade carbon, where the FP2 is modeled after the Dogma.
Am I perhaps saving myself money in the lnog run by buying an FP3 now rather than buying an FP2 and wanting to trade up in 2 years?
