Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It's quiet. Everyone must be checking the Q-factor on their cranks.

Amen. Laws change all the time. Not always for the right reasons. If you lay enough $ in front of it all of a sudden there's outrage in congress and a couple of lawmakers buy new yahts.

I'm quite sure mine isn't related to injury or joint damage, since it behaved normally a couple weeks ago. Even though I can't feel swelling, there must be pressure on the wrong spot.

Does this seem likely, given my condition? If so, is there anything to be done about it beyond taking the drugs I'm already taking?
V.V. is this when you are riding or trying to be physically fit? Or off the bike. Do you di any stretching? I get sciatica on the right side. It hurts in my lower back and down in and out the side of my hip. I can set it of by applying too many watts like in a sprint. Or climbing. Im talking, "hope the chain holds" kinda watts. When it starts giving me trouble,, I stretch. Works great. When I found the right stretch I could tell.

Also, I wanted to add. Jordan Petersen, claimed to have R a. And other food born illnesses. His daughter had to have joints replaced at a young age, hers was so bad. He only eats beef and greens. He makes an appearance on Joe Rogan and talks about it. He's an interesting guy, you might enjoy listening to him.

Edit: he and his daughter claim to be cured. Forgot to add that.

I haven't detected any correlation to activity, or lack there off. It varies, but a typical incident, I'll be sitting at the desk at night, and when I change positions I start feeling discomfort in the "hip." It will continue to get worse, even when I sleep, until my morning drugs start to kick in the next day.

Hard to get enough carbs if you only eat meat. Hard to get enough protein if you don't. Hence, cheeseburgers.

Does riding affect it either way?

If it has set in, beyond a minor level, I won't ride. On walks it might loosen up to some degree after several minutes, but it's still bothersome.

Mine would feel better after a bit of riding, but I don't know whether riding exacerbated it.

.
I know when my hip started, and for the next couple years I had a hard time pinning it down to what it was exactly that set it off. If I went out and rode hard I was fine, no problems until I went deep, and there were certain people that would bring that out in me. So sometimes it hurt after riding some times it didn't. I tried a bunch of different stretches nothing helped until I just bent over at the waist, tried to put my nose on my knee cap. Bingo. I could feel the pain change. After that every few hours I bent over and stretched. Pretty soon no more pain. I try to do it a couple times a day for just a few minutes.

When it's in this mode any bending at the hip/lifting the leg is no bueno. Sitting/standing up, squatting, pedaling, putting on pants/socks all bad.

If it’s trochanteric bursitis it will hurt mainly when you poke on the area with your finger and/or roll over onto it while lying down. But lots of other possibilities including IT band and tendons and labrum etc., so you may want your witch doctor to do a good examination. There may be some exercises and/or PT to add to the junk, I mean medicine, you are taking.

But inflammatory arthritis in this general area, even if it's not the bursa per se, could cause the pain? I ask because it seems a bit removed from the actual hip joint,

Maybe. Too many variables to give you a good answer. One of my Ortho instructors in med school said that most often if patients complain about a hip problem it’s really in their back. Not always, but true hip joint pathology most often felt in the groin.
