Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I am in the market for bibs, and hoping that something decent pops up on Chainlove. There were a few last week.

Chainlove has been having tons of helmets on sale recently...since we're on the subject.

Saw the giro air attack for $70 yesterday, along with the giro aeon for $120.

reason to go for a mini pump?

it's probably lighter than 2 co2 cartridges.

I actually ordered a Blackburn SL (the really small one). Just in case. Still keeping the co2.

Finally got a set of bibs on Chainlove. I hope they fit since I have never worn bibs and the sizing does not match my profile. It was my first order on Chainlove, so I did not know that you have one week to combine shipping with other Chainlove items. Each additional item is $0.99 in shipping. Going to wait a couple of more days.

REI has some good stuff on Outlet. Just got a long sleeve Castelli jersey for $17.73 and a lite jacket for $34.73

https://www.rei.com/product/857058/ca...-2012-closeout

EDIT: most sizes now sold out

The unless I'm wrong, the rebates that have shown up recently have been for the previous version that they're trying to clear out inventory. The 510 is too new to have any sort of significant discount this early in it's lifecycle.

$3 cheaper and faster shipping from Wiggle:
https://www.wiggle.com/garmin-edge-510s-and-810s/

Now, if you wanted to wait, you might find a better deal. I've seen bigger discounts around holidays and black friday is literally right around the corner.

I picked up my 810 bundle for just over $400 from Wiggle back in the spring. It came with UK maps, but open street maps fixed that problem.

It looks like the wiggle version comes with a UK charger. Not that most people don't already have another USB charger lying around.

Edit. Mini-USB cable? Really, Garmin? That's been deprecated since 2007.

Bikebling is the only one in the states that would do discount on Garmin. Use 15off300 for 15%. I think it comes out to $280.

Only Mini-A was deprecated. I have numerous devices purchased after 2007 with Mini-USB. My brand new bike lights charge via mini-USB.

Micro-USB connectors typically fail at the plug (you have to replace a common $5 USB cable) while mini-USB connectors typically fail at the jack (you have to replace a component inside the device itself).

Everything is mini-usb...my GoPro I just picked up is mini usb.

Anyway, no need to worry about the UK only jack, I just plug the usb cable into my iphone charger...which I have like 5 of laying around the house.

the mini-usb cable is supplied with the GPS. then you can just use any USB charger you use for your iphone or android to charge it.

Pretty good deal. Even with the $22 shipping to Canada +taxes it's still half the price that I could get it for locally!
