The steel ones for sure, the Al frames from Anlen had terrible quality control IIRC, they suffered from cracked head tubes.

I remember a Keith Bontrager rant about oversized stuff, and that 1-1/4" headtube was used as an example. Ah, Uncle Grumpy, how i miss thee....

Is that XC Pro on your rig?

But I have the XC Pro BB .

It's definitely in there, and not just dust caps. 😁

Suntour Grease Guard BB. this requires a spacer to push the DS spindle right enough for chainring clearance.

Miyata Ridge Runner

Bought the frameset as seen for $50

Came with the most worked suntour RD i've ever seen, teeth on the jockey wheel were completely gone??

Bent and welded up a rack out of .375'' 4130 tubing

Came out closer to a dodgers blue,

Added a basket, a brooks, 2.00'' schwalbes and some parts i had laying around. Happy with how it came out, it rides like it looks.
This thread rules, keep em comin

Fantastic fabrication!
if the derailleur is still functional, you can still buy tacx pulleys that will fit so you don't have to run single speed. Accushift thumbies aren't terribly difficult to come across either, if you want accushift indexing.

1x10 Conversion is Complete

Here's a link to a blog post on how I did it, for those interested.

I went the hard route, converting the original 7-speed wheel over to an 8/9/10 speed wheel. I was was a lot of effort, but a lot of fun to figure out.

Got to do something. Titanium is just so...gray. Moots logo colors...when they aren’t white...are green so I stuck with that. I have a Dean which uses red, green, yellow, blue in their decals. I’ve got a whole lot more to work with there

Some of it I got from Fleabay and some of it I got from QBP. Shimano makes some cable housing in colors that they sell as a complete kit with housing and inner cable. J&B Importers also sell housing in a lot of different colors.

But cable was easy.

Finding the parts to do this color scheme was much more difficult.

1989 Specialized rockhopper

My nephew wanted a bike to tool around town and commute to school with. I rebuilt a 1989 Specialized Rockhopper (at least I think it's an '89, late 80s for sure with a u brake). The only original parts are the bar, stem, seatpost, headset, and brakes. The bike has nice 26 x 1.5 slicks and I installed tire liners.

I plan on riding it around a few days and then boxing it up for shipment. He could not find a bike at a reasonable price on the east coast due to the pandemic (he lives in NJ near NYC); so he's getting a free bike instead which makes his dad, my brother, happy. The bike is a full decade older than my nephew so as far as he is concerned this bike is seriously vintage.

Roughly 1986 RockHopper. I've had it about three years, mostly run with drop bars but a month ago switched to these groovy touring bars
