Value of this Craigslist Scapin?

Looks to be in excellent shape with full group set. I recently bought an 89 RB-1 but its just a little too big for me. I have a 33" inseam and 58cm seems just a tad too big so looking for something in the 55/56cm range for the same price($400~) that I paid for that.

Any information at all would be great thanks.

...is this a trick question ? It's easily worth the asking price in the locations with which I'm familiar..

Scapin is, in my opinion, one of the most under rated of the C&V Italian brands. My all time favourite rider was a 1974 Scapin with Columbus SL. Many would say that it's worth the price for the components alone, given their condition. The frame itself appears to be late 1980s and assuming the combination of (Nuovo) Record components and Camapgnolo rims is OEM, it should be circa 1986-1987. It's interesting that the frame has internal rear brake cable routing but no front derailleur braze-on. Unfortunately, I can't identify the remnants of the Columbus decal. Regardless, this is definitely worth a visit for 1st hand inspection and a test ride.

It might be Aelle tubing, which would make it less desirable than an SL frame.

I have one with 600 stuff on it and it still rides great, but not as light and lively as SL.

Quite the looker. I lack the expertise to peg a value, but I'm not sure I could resist buying that one.

...I like how Aelle tubing bikes ride. But I am from a lower middle class background, and lack refinement.

I owned a Scapin for a couple years and sold it because the herd needed thinning. Mine was Cromor and rode great. There was a dealer in my hometown that sold them and mine came from his shop. He gave them high marks overall.

Worth asking price, IMO.

Saddle and bar tape are doing it no favors. Add a Turbo and black Fizik, and it wouldn't last long on the market at that price.

All you need know about Scapin is that they were so well respected in the Italian bicycle industry, that Tullio Campagnolo personally selected them to manufacture the frames used to promote his 50th anniversary group at the Milan trade show and in company advertising. The frame in the attached advertising clearly exhibits Scapin's three circles stamped into the head lugs.

Man my GF has tried to kill me in two different one bedroom apartments 😂 I just keep packing in the bikes!

best of luck. Make promises to sell them. Occasionally I’ll list a few on eBay or CL at ridiculously high prices and then complain that no one will buy them. Usually works haha
