Hello, I just signed up here. Been wanting a bicycle for the past 15 years since I used to always ride almost everything. Needed to start a little bit of fitness with my diet to bring my cholesterol down so I was able to snag this Diamondback Trace for a pretty good deal at d*cks for 299. I think it will serve my purposes for the time being until I can get at it in the dirt again. Only thing I'm thinking of changing right now are the pedals to some Wellgo MG-1 magnesium platform pedals.

Moto Cafe Century
Greetings, My 2nd post on the forum, tons of good stuff on here. I guess this is a hybrid . In the search for a all purpose city, trail, path, and commuter bike I sprung for a 2016 Motobecane Café Century bike. This thing is about the most affordable carbon frame bike I could find. I opted for the 58cm V-brake version over the disc simply because I have wheelsets that are compatible, plus the frame itself accommodates up to 40c tire width. It has an adjustable stem, FSA 175mm cranks, 50-39-30 chainring, 9 speed 11-32 Tooth SRAM cassette, Shimano 441 shifters, RD-M591-L rear and FD-R453 front mechs. So of course I had to add my own touches. Relatively lightweight platform/clip pedals, these things work great so far. A Selle Italia saddle, very comfy on a 10 mile ride so its a keeper. Jagwire cables, silver housing for shift with inline adjusters, red housing for brakes. Locking ergo soft rubber grips. Koolstop rear brake pads on a Shimano M422 brake. Vuelta 37mm deep wheels with blade spokes, capped with 32c urban tires. And because we all dig pix here's a few.

My 2014 8.4 DS GF
This is my 2014 Trek 8.4 DS. I have made a couple upgrades. Shimano Deore Trekking Pedals, Bontrager SSR Saddle, Ergon GS-3 Grips. I am looking into a second set of wheels so I can swap between pavement and trail depending on what I am doing. 98% of the time I will be on pavement, but when I want to ride a single track, I would like something better suited for that than street tires.

here's my cadent. carbon forks, acera components. got a lot of mods for it coming. already changed a fizik seat and gold chain. i have shimano XTR brakes and ice rotors at home getting installed next. while the manaul disc brakes actually doesnt feel that bad, it could be better. Im going to put the XTR crankset, front/rear XT derailleurs, XTR cassette soon.

Very sweet! Awesome color, too. This looks like a winner straight out of the box, but the XTR/XT components and ice should make for an incredible bike!

Recently sold old my road bike due to back problems, wanted something comfortable to ride and a bike I wouldn't be afraid to bang up a bit. Got this 2014 Fuji Absolute 2.3 for under $300. Been impressed so far, rides decently fast, has stood up through a lot of bumpy dirt/grass trails, and climbs well. However the handling sucks. I hadn't fallen off a bike before I got this, have fallen twice now in4months, both while making tight turns on wet pavement and on a dirt switchback. Also wish I had disc brakes, the stopping power is really weak and tires out my hands quickly on long steep descents.
Thinking to to add some mustache bars to this, even though it would be more upright I would like the added variety of hand positions. Also want to change tires from 700x35 to 40 to see if that helps with traction and braking.
Really miss the the road bike though, this thing is great but doesn't have that wow factor while riding. Feels more like a Prius than a bmw. Maybe I'll end up getting a mtb bike too to accommodate for more fun rides and handling on trails. Need to finally try bike camping with this thing though, but eventually...

Thanks. The more I ride this bike, the more I like it. I spent more than I intended but I'm glad I did at this point. I did swap out the stock saddle when I picked up the bike, so what you see in my picture isn't exactly what comes on the bike.
I told the LBS specifically what trails I wanted to ride and the roads I planned to ride to get there and they felt this was a good choice. So far they've been right. I've ridden on blacktop, concrete, loose gravel roads, hard-packed dirt roads, dirt trails and grassy trails. So far, so good.

Yesterday's acquisition off of San Diego CL. My 2006 Schwinn Super Sport GS. $100 in mint condition, my only mods added $20 for the plastic clip-on fenders and the 2nd bottle cage and pump. I may go wider on the tires, and I may change out the pedals and seat, and add a rear rack.

It's been a long time since I've posted on this page. My 2013 Fuji Absolute 2.1 has about 1500 miles on it and still rolls on the orignal Vera CityWide 700x32 tires. I blew the bearings out of the cheap factory platform pedals and replaced them with Forte platforms and toe clips. I've just done a few upgrades (Ergon GP2 grips/bar ends, front and rear lighting, Transit saddlebag and add an occasional handlebar bag when I need it). It hasn't been getting as much road time as it once did, but it's still great for this 49 y/o slightly overweight dude. I had just finished a 22.5 mile ride this morning when I snapped this pic.
