Love me some Bruce Springsteen.
Nebraska, Born in the USA, and Tunnel of Love are the only albums of him I've ever owned or wanted to but they're in my top albums of all time. I can sing every syllable.
His voice is Perfect for His songs. To me he makes the mistake of trying to sound like bob dylan now that he's a certain age. But those three albums, PERFECT.
When he went to sing on We Are The World, Michael Jackson told him to sing again and again until Michael Jackson said to sing it like some song (I forget which one) then Bruce Springsteen Nailed it. That is Vintage good stuff there.
This song is the story of my life...well part of it.

Many people try to sing in the Dylanese dialect. I'm glad it's a dying form. That's the beauty of music, though. There's something out there for everyone. Take the different versions/singers of "Because The Night." Each version speaks to someone. It reminds me of that scene in Eddie and the Cruisers when Tom Berrenger introduces "Dark Side" to the rest of the band. Eddie knows the secret. It's words and music. After that, anything is possible.

Got some clip ons aero bars for the IM. Getting it set up for the 1/2" IM distance challenge coming up. I don't have the coin for a skin suit. I'll have to settle for shrink wrap or lathering up in some kind of slippery substance. Maybe bacon grease. Since I'm doing the swim last, it might help me get through the water faster also. Win-win.

This thread needs a picture so I'll just drop this one of my daughter on her Ironman during a charity ride. She only did the 12 mile section but she crossed the finish line ahead of everyone else. Her nickname since that day a couple of years ago has solidified as "Rocket". If memory serves me right she was 11 at the time.

Funny you say that. This year when giving the bike a once over I raised the seat maybe 1 cm. She took it out for a spin and the first thing she said when she got back was 'Did you raise the seat?", I had to lower it back down. I thought she had grown a little but that seat has been the same height for at least 3 years.

Then we have the chance to like something else.

Lately, I'm into Gaslight Anthem, who is back at it again, but I've not heard the new stuff.
Their music is very atypical to their origins and upbringing, which makes it fresh for me.

Important questions here. Did she watch any of the Femme TDF? And, was she inspired?

For BB4: What did the Assassin think of the Femme TDF? I thought they put on a heck of a show. Give them a few year's to get some more experience and watch out. Plus, their kits were a lot snazzier than the men's. That's important, at least to me.

Hah, I have a college radio station CD of a bunch of on-air live performances, and one song is called "Fire." It's a female singer, and I love it ... and only realized in the past few years that it's a Springsteen song. Heck, there's even a Pointers Sisters version on YouTube that's pretty cool.

Oh, and I've been riding my Ironman quite a bit the last two months. Got me up a 20-mile climb on July 4 (after I changed the gearing) - 5700 feet of climbing, very comfortable. I've also been commuting in to work on it (those are only 800-foot climbs!). It gets lots of love from passers-by.

She watched it during indoor climbing workouts, like Loveland Pass in CO.
The bikes are very interesting to me, the difference between theirs and the mens'.
She liked the kit. I spent the whole time beatching about Title IX....

I'm going to say she was inspired. She's ridden some of the TdSpain course.

We did 104 miles with 8100' on Saturday, and she did a breakaway at 90, with 3 climbs still to go.
I watched her walk right by the two guys in front on the last hard climb, which starts at 16% from a flat valley road, then tapers.
I try to go from last to first on climbs like that, and I barely caught her by the summit.

We leave for Colorado today, 18 days of riding and hiking. Basically, 6 rest days, 6 riding days, travel, pickle-ball, and cribbage. Don't get me started.....

Elmer Fudd's was the best, and I think Springsteen sang it that way once, but couldn't finish because Little Stevie was laughing so hard.

I was at the movies, watching the 2nd Hannibal Lecter movie, where an intestine falls from from a hanging body and splats on the ground. Dead quiet, and rom the back of the theatre, someone says "and Springsteen has left the building." About a third of the theatre groaned, and then laughed.

The Gaslight Anthem has some good stuff. Heavily influenced by Bruce, but with a gritty lead and some pep. What are you looking for? You can't go wrong with the Canadian Folk/Roots rockers Blue Rodeo. Lots of albums/material. Two lead singers One Dylany, one that sings the songs for the ladies. Similar to your boys from Waukesha WI. Another one is/was The Tragically Hip. I'd put their first album "Up To Here" up against any out there. Check out the documentary "Long Time Running" to get familiar with them and their sad story. I think it's on Netflix.

I've been in a ska/punk phase for a while now. Such a broad spectrum of music. Lot's of fun music and I like the horns. This is the song of the summer for me. It's just emits happiness and good times.

Sure I remember the pointer sisters version but like I said Springsteen can only sing his songs good...well sounds good to me anyway.

Marissa, the SF guitar player, plays lead (and splits vocals with Shirley), so Duke Erickson plays the iconic piano part. It delivers.
