^^I've gone through 3 pairs of jeans in a couple months. I decided to patch up leather on the crotch part. No more problems.

Do you have a perforated saddle? That was my problem. Now smooth saddle=jeans without holes.

If it's wearing through your jeans I'd hate to see what's happening to your ass.
For mid-range rides (over 5 miles under 30) I have a pair of climbing/yoga knickers and a few pairs of good shorts, it's just not worth trying to ride in tight pants, especially jeans. I just hit a point where I think "**** fashion" and go for comfort, plus it's not hard to throw a pair of pants in my bag to change into later.

i only commute about 6miles to class a day (3 there, 3 back home), then maybe another 3 or 4 for misc. stuff like getting food or going to the grocery store. i ride that everyday, and it seems this last month ive torn through 2 pairs already, i usually only ride twice or three times the school during the spring cause of all the rain.

I wonder how in the hell people ride in skinny jeans. I have a pair of jeans that fits, not super tight, not baggy, and if I wear them on my bike it feels like my nuts are banging against each other and it's like the worst thing ever.

skinny jeans are like spandex, in that they keep everything in place
though i have noticed the faster i pedal, the more friction i feel between my leather saddle and my crotch hence the holes and crotchlessness :'(

Maybe my skinny jeans are especially tight or something but they are by far the worst thing that I have ever worn on the bike.

Whoah. Guys are...funny. All this weiner and tuck talk!
I suppose because Im lacking external genitals riding in tight jeans isnt an issue, but they still do wear/tear. Sewing an extra peice of shirt fabric or leather on the inside of the jeans does the trick for me. But I dont expect many guys to sit there and sew that. It's irritating.
