You live in BG. Why don't you ride or take a combination or ride and transit?

I may go since it's less than 5 miles away.

Hey, why does their website not show and list that Pershing Square, where the ride starts is a Metro Red Line Station?
Gumbii. From BG you would head west on Florence 5 1/2 miles to the Florence Metro Blue Line station. As far as I know, they still allow bikes.
You would get a day pass. $5. Then travel north to the 7th & Broadway Blue Line Station and trasfer to the Red Line, and get off at Pershing Square. 1st stop.
Voila. You are there. You do the ride, lock your bike and have lunch somewhere down there, and return the same way.
You will meet many other bikers doing exactly the same thing, from all over So Cal.
I may come from further down the Blue Line for this ride.
It sounds like a good opportunity to see the central business district and all the locations for ATOC.

No bike permits needed...no restrictions on rush hours, either, on Sunday.

Who else wants to go?

Not really my type of ride but I am considering it to raise awareness and hopefully get some friends involved. If I ride, I will take the Blue Line then have lunch at Cliftons Cafeteria.

Definitely not my type either, but police ******* downtown. I don't want to miss out on that. When I visit my sis downtown, I'm always fighting with distracted, speeding-trying-to-beat-the-lights drivers.:sigh:

Ms. Alice, you didn't say whether or not you're going to be there. I just invited a friend and I'm going to invite my sister, since she's one of the loft dwellers that don't venture past a few blocks from their loft.

This is a good ride to invite your friends who may be newer to cycling than you to, ...

90% chance I will be there. It was very nice last year...all kinds of riders from commuters to roadies to advocates to kids on fixed gear bikes. They raffled off a beautiful folder...

My college roommate from, uh hmm, back in the day said she will come. She's newer to cycling. Or she's actually rode her bike in college many years ago and would like to get back into it.

Well I hope to see you there. I'm definitely going. This should be fun.

Too bad I don't have my Dutch bike yet. I guess my pink roadie will have to do.

Seriously you're getting a Dutch bike? Have you seen the bikes at the Flying Pigeon?

Nope. I keep meaning to stop by there. It's on my way to a climb I frequently do.

The ride is free. I don't think that there is advance registration, but the release form is available online.

If I'm remembering correctly from last year, the raffle tickets were included with the free registration. You have to be there to win, the raffle was at the end of the ride...there are food vendors to purchase lunch from.

Clifton's for lunch. AHHH! I want a turkey leg.
Or maybe Philippe's. But I've been there twice in the last few weeks.

We're going to Wurstkuche in the Art District. The have every sausage imaginable, even alligator and rabbit. And the best frites this side of Belgium.

Since I do vegetarian and vegan restaurants or kosher only...won't be joining you at Clifton's or Phillipes but totally appreciate their role and history in LA

I'm still in for this, even if we don't agree on where to lunch. There's time to socialize before and after the ride itself...

Anyone taking the Gold Line from SouthPas into downtown?

If I can manage to wrangle up some friends, we'll probably stop by Busters before heading out on the train on Sunday morning. And Union Station is practically a stones-throw away from Pershing Square--very doable by bike.
