As an added bonus, the 7700 cranks were the last good looking Dura Ace cranks before 9100 came out last year!

Those usually came with something like a 53/39 chainring and 12-23 cassette, not ideal for the average cyclist. First thing I'd do is switch to a cassette with at least a 28 tooth cog (assuming the rear derailleur can handle it). And possibly switch to a 50/34 chainring combo. That'll be easier on your knees, especially for any climbing.
I've gradually morphed my old school road bike from 52/42 chainrings and 13-24 freewheel to 50/39 and 13-25. I may try a 13-28 next. At 61 my knees don't climb like they used to.
But if yours was one of the models with a triple chainring the smallest ring should handle climbs even with the 12-23 cassette. I've used a 13-25 freewheel on my heavy errand bike and the 28T smallest chainring and 25T rear cog was good enough for the 5% climb from my neighborhood grocery store loaded down with up to 50 lbs of stuff (I have three cats and that's a typical haul of cat litter and food).
Also check your bike fit. Little adjustments to seat post height and saddle position can make a big difference in knee comfort. Ditto cleat position if you use clipless. There are lots of basic bike fit tutorials online. Beyond the basics I just go by how it feels. If my knees are good after a 20-30 mile workout, I'm satisfied.
