my worst experience hitching was hitting a near invisible depression in the road and basically bouncing over my bars. as long as you keep your eyes open, hold on with a loose grip and float a good distance away from the car, it's not that serious. as the guy above said, in the monstertrack video, austin tries to hitch onto a car going faster than him and gets pulled off his bike ON THE BRIDGE.

I might try it in Denver this week during the DNC. Hopefully it's pretty busy and cars aren't going to fast.

Nah people are just leaving, so they can rent out their pads for nice sums of money.
An acquaintance of mine is making a couple thousand on their loft for the week.

I was just in Denver this past weekend for the College Democrat Conference. Watch out for the cops, I'm sure they're dying for an excuse to use some riot control **** that they carry around. Very creepy city right now.

I'm sure all those cops will end up at the free Rage Against the Machine concert.
****s gonna hit the fan so hard again.
I'm going down tomorrow, and Wednesday.

I don't know if you heard, but they blew up a mysterious box and I was down there, it sounded like a war zone. Turned out to be an empty box or something.. heh. I wish I could've stayed.

the only bad part about skitching is that when you grab onto a wheel well, especially the rubber bus ones, your hands go insta-black and your grips get dirty as ****.

regardless, it's a fun party trick and if the moment is right and a septa bus is next to me, i'll do it for a couple blocks. your feet spin up to the vehicle's speed surprisingly easy.

the best was when one day i skitched around city hall in philadelphia on a septa bus and i looked up into the window, two black kids were looking at me in amazement.

DISCLAMER: this is a dumb idea. don't do it.

Hitching rides is a terrible habit of mine. If I'm pedaling hard in downtown traffic and I see a truck bed floating next to me, I can't help but hold on.

The only time I've gotten into trouble was with a UPS truck. I'd just gotten out of class (along with 400 other people) and tried to hitch a ride on the back of the truck off of campus. The driver saw me reaching over, and as soon as I got a good grip he floored it, ripping me off my bike. Wiping out in front of all those people was quite a treat.

I've done this. I really think its asking for it in america though. Make sure you've got an exit plan if you're gonna try it, i.e. don't try skitching your first time with another car close behind you, and match speeds with what you're grabbing, grabbing something faster is gonna yank you.

probably should wear a helmet.
