I hope that I'm not the only trike rider who frequents Bike Forums.

I don't really have an answer except to say that ....since trikes are in the recumbent "style" maybe it is considered that they belong here... I do not have a trike YET but hope in the future to make or buy one. I have a bunch of old frames so should be able to find the material; it is just a matter of finding the time.

Recumbent trikes just get lumped in with recumbent bikes. Upright trikes would go in Utility or Family & Recreation as appropriate.

There was a similar post about unicycling a while back. The recumbent forum is not overly busy, and segmenting it wouldn't really improve anything.

If you are starved for information and need to contact others who are frequent trike riders there are two other sites that have active trike forums. One is www.bentrideronline.com. The messageboard has a trike section. Also there is a little more obscure website www.thertr.com which stands for the recumbent trike rider. Bentrider gets a lot more activity for trikes than the other one.

If this forum were actually busy, I could see there being an argument for a separate forum. But given how light the traffic is already, perhaps the best solution is to rename this forum to Recumbent & Trikes.

I own an EZ-3 as well & even though it's heavy, I adore it. I call it my LZ boy on wheels. It's so much fun to tool around in. Lots of people (esp teens) tell me how much they like it, and even if I never got complimented on it - I love it.

I ride a Catrike Road and my son has a KMX Cyclone. I would certainly encourage you to visit the RTR forum. Like many forums it has periods of activity and then slow times but it is all about trikes and has some really great folks on it. The BROL Trike page is especially good for trike specific info. It has quite an active group.

Hi Folks,
I'm considering a Trike at the moment and have been eyeing the Trikes on ebay. The ActionBent Hill climber caught my eye as we live in North Carolina, foothills near Charlotte and the terrain is what you might call extremely hilly with the "wheeee" part of the ride being just a bit dampened by the "unh, unh, groan" part of the ride which is always coming up......Also thought of the Trike X by Recumbents USA another ebay Chinese offering. My other choice would be the TerraTrike's as they seem to be well built and I just have been wowed by their clientelle, especially a little girl by the name of Alicia as well as "Teller" of "Penn and Teller"......anyone have any of these???

We live in Concord. I ride a Trice T, my wife has a Trice QNT, and we also have a TerraTrike Tandem.

cmpycrnk, I sympathize with you, the hills can be a bear...we have some around us that measure at 20-21%, and many that go in the 6-8% category. Go for LOW (like 24-34) gears and just crank your way up 'em, one stroke at a time.

I have an old '01 TerraTrike, the '04/'05 EZ Tad (both enclosed). The Terratrike has lasted and lasted (now has a VeloKit), the EZ is nicely overbuilt to carry a heavy hard shell.

9 years ago one poster constantly nagged about 'bent bikes/trikes, but just this month another moderator "came unglued" about safety/width. Putting separate vehicles in their own areas might make some people happy- but that is kind of strange prioritizing 'bents.

2 weird people in 10 years ain't so bad! Their problem, not mine!

Our TerraTrike Tandem arrived on Friday the 20th. What a beauty. We have two other Tandems, a KHS which is a great bike for the money, a Raleigh Coupe (our first) a 26" wheeled jobber. The TerraTrike is taking some getting used to. On our first loop we were just whipped and when we did it again we felt much better, still it seems like a slug after our "wedgie" tandems. However the ride was just really comfortable.
I'm looking at the Trice T for a number of reasons: like the seat height, like the gears, like the suspension. I discounted the Greenspeeds and the Catrikes only because we're older and can't seem to grasp the non-adjustable seat technology.
How are you transporting your Tandem? We're thinking that it just might fit inside our Ford Escort wagon once we take it down. Did you get it with the fenders? Our rides around here (Gastonia) are a workout and, for the life of me, I can't think of any of what you might call "level" just one rolling hill after another and the ones that are just a bit uncomfortable on the wedgies are murder on the TTTandem, at least until we get our TrikeLegs....

Solo Trike folks: What is your take on suspended rear wheel vs rigid? Thinking of adding a solo to the herd......looking seriously at the Trice T for suspended, Trice T26, TTSport and Action Bent Mantis 81 spd for rigid....ken
