Pete Zump – NE Pale Ale 6.6%
When we were kids, and we would see our dad (Larry) have a conversation with a stranger, we would ask, “dad, who was that?” occasionally he wouldn’t remember, so his reply was “Pete Zump” (plus other names soon to follow in this series). This New England Pale Ale has strong juicy, tropical, passion fruit, papaya, mango, and tangerine characteristic from the Azacca and Mandarina Bavaria hops.

I enjoy a nice dark ale once in a while. I buy mine from the Liquor Control Board of Ontario aka LCBO. The one I get most often is a Kentish Ale bottled as SPITFIRE ALE and was created to commemorate The Battle of Britain. Before the LCBO stopped carrying bottles of it some bottles had The Bottle of Britain on them.
Alas, now that I'm on blood pressure and cholesterol medicines I'm not supposed to consume any alcohol. I wonder if one bottle would hurt? LOL
Cheers

At Christmas time I told my son I have enough stuff. A shared experience with him would be a great gift.
It took a little while to align our schedules. Friday he picked me up for a road trip to a surprise destination, a brewery he likes.

Their can artwork looks reminiscent of Tired Hands' stuff: https://www.tiredhands.com/
Which - by the way - also in PA, and despite my being in GA, they're one of my top 10 breweries in the USA. Right up there with "untouchables" like Treehouse.

I'm still a Jonge Jenever man. Don't care too much about brands, which is one of its benefits: it's not very susceptible to fashion, and the subsequent price hikes. Hartevelt makes one, dubbed "Prima" which translates into "just fine". I like that.

That's still so Parkdale.
As a business model, craft breweries should always make mostly accessible beers and then play around occasionally with seasonal recipes, bocks etc. I'm a shareholder in Wayfarers Ale and there's not one beer that you'd reject as distasteful, they're all palatable. Their brewmaster has no hubris, unlike some kids that just want toplay.

Oh well, I can get good German beer in our local stores and occasionally English ones, though Fuller's is hard to find these days. Current top picks are Hacker-Pshorr Munich Gold (aka Muenchen Hell), and Ayinger ... I think it was Marzen. Running second are Warsteiner Pilsner and Veltin's. And the resurrection of Stroh's traditional recipe is tied in 2nd tier.

Islay single malts, Lagavulin or Ardbeg mostly
Fat Tire Ale
Tavern Ale out of Williamsburg Va, when I can find it
Pinot Noir, not too picky on the brand as long as it costs around $10/bottle (less, and it's, as my wife describes it, "dishwater")

After a good long ride, Budweiser - The King of Beers! or Narragansett. So sue me, I don't like hoppy beer.
When I'm overwhelmed with work or stuck inside during these long cold months wishing I was out riding? Old Grand-dad, neat.

^despite the directives on the can to drink out of the can vs pouring into a glass, both this beer and their equally fab heady topper
should be poured into a proper glass, at least once, to appreciate the color/body/head/lacing. both are beautiful beers.
